Bit weird really, and I don't have a clue whats wrong............

When I access a PHP message board and general websites I seem to have a time delay i.e. the page scrolls down slowly and when I type messages the words are delayed quite a bit when displaying on the screen?

I've done a virus check and all clear

BUT when I access Windows 98 and go on the internet all is well. It's just when I'm on XP recently I've been having this problem. (been running xp for about 6 months now and problem has only just popped up)

Any ideas?

It seems like more of a general PC slowdown thing rather than a web problem. Have you got a decent spec machine? Try doing a scandisk and defrag.

I might try a defrag, didn't think of that!

It's a P3 450, problems only started in the last week.

I've got hold of a 256 chip so I'll put that in soon.

Thing is, I've been running xp on this system for 6months with no problems. Probably is to do with the virus scanners and all that I've installed recently.

Cheers!

If you have installed a load of stuff like virus scanners most will be sitting there running in the backround. You don't *really* need it to do that, just get it to do say a weekly scan and just scan files that you download Wink

If you want to know what programs are starting up and/or disable them go to Start/Run/ and enter 'msconfig' and then click the startup tab. Select or deselect anything you don't want starting up. Very Happy
