I have the two washers. 10 pounds on ebay. Would a mechanic fit these for me or take umbrage that I haven't paid over the odds for his restrictors?

Anyway, advice please on where to put the washers..
(bodily orifices excluded)

An independant shouldn't be awkward about it (key question to ask them: look, do you want the labour or not?)

Most franchises and official places are likely to play silly buggers though. And charge the earth too.

<SNIP>Have removed paragraph as i seem to have remembered incorrectly Embarassed

It should take about an hour or less to fit restriction, and certainly not over 2!

What you need to do is turn the bike upside down, get the tyre spinning at a fair old rate and bounce stones off the tyre to see how far they go. This won't help at all but will make a brilliant video for youtube.

Usually the washers are fitted between carb and engine.

aye if you fit them between the engine and carbs thats the norm.

Fitting em this way restricts the amount of mix the motor can take in and thus power.

Fitting them between airbox and carbs would restrict air, and create a vacuum in the carbs making it run horribly rich.
