Right, just realised the whole 3 years I was at uni I never once managed to find any magic mushrooms, and as I was in North Wales, that is unforgiveable.

Anyway, I'm currently being pestered to go visit a few... ahem... people, so I figure I'll bowl up there and stock up. Will be nice now my bike is working, especially as I'm fitting the new shock on Saturday (Praying)

So, when is the BEST time. Generally speaking. Also what kind of places am I meant to be looking for them, and can anyone post up a picture they've taken themselves (somehow it sticks in my mind better) of some they've picked (that worked).

I'm thinking I will take said 'people' out to find them, and munch half with them and wedge the other half fresh in honey jars. Bloody Labour criminalising them Crying or Very sad

I think we got the wrong mushrooms. Sad

I know this is probably teaching you to 'suck eggs' ... but be careful and go with someone that knows what they are looking for. ... I have heard some real horror stories.

Get loads down these parts ... nowadays, in my boring middle aged life, I simple kick them as I walk past .... or sometimes bore the wife stupid with the repeated story of 'the day the house melted'. Clapping

We always looked for pasture that has had horses or cows in past, but not used for a while and the grass left uncut.
Best time was always Aug/Sep ... after a bit of rain ... maybe very early morning dew.
One legendary patch ... funnily enough now the bottom of my garden ... yielded some absolute goliaths Smile

Will keep an eye out on my weekend walks with dogs and kids ... and if I spot any will send you the google map location (god, if only we had the internet back in my day Smile )

Lol, 'the day the house melted'. How many had we taken Silky... own up Laughing

Anyhew, I'm always careful Wink Must admit this isn't one that makes me anxious, judging by what I've heard about them. But still, I want to try them, and they're basically free.

I could get up there early August Thinking Would that still be too early? To be honest I was hoping to go up late July but that will almost definitely be too early.

And as I mention, this is a tack on excuse to justify the 40 quids petrol and extra for beer money to go back to Bangor to clunge some plunge. So supplies dawn sarf aren't going to be overly helpful Crying or Very sad

September/October is mushy season if I remember correctly. But you need to get the fields earlyish about 8am before the mushy heads get them all. Laughing

If you get some, eat the stalks as well, they're full of trippy goodness.

I was told you needed to eat hundreds to get any effect, this not true. 40-50 will see you off your box for about 8 hours. Laughing

EDIT: They taste rank as well. Sick

Preserved in local honey ... yum Drooling

(note: dry them a bit first to remove excess moisture ... they wont ferment in the honey then .. but will simply preserve ... honey being an anti bac and all that Thumbs Up )

Aww, I think it's too late in the year for me (shark fiddling and all).

Oh well, another year missed Sad

And yeh Silky, I'd heard about the honey trick and was hoping to just fill a few jars full. Would probably make them quite tasty Laughing

Despite what hippy types and old ladies with hairy muffs will tell you honey is not good for you.
It is just sugar that has been gobbed up by a bee and it will make you fat and your teeth will go black. Sad

My dear, I did not intend a honey based health diet. I was merely preserving some funky ass mushrooms in it for a suitable occasion. Fuck knows how long they'd keep like that mind, and tripping should be done outside really. One can eat what one likes in moderation Wink

And don't worry, I'm very good at ignoring hippies. Spent a lot of time in their company sadly.
