I don't think you can, but I'm not completely sure. All places tend to say a full face lid, and I would take that to mean a proper full facer, since some flip up lids are essentially an open face lid with a crappy chain bar.
Also lots of flip up helmets are submitted to be tested to the ECE standard as an open face helmet, so the chin bar is never tested, and thus they are classed as an open face helmet and therefore not legal to be used on track.
However as for how to tell the difference between a flip up that's been submitted to the open face, or the full face test I have no idea. ____________________ My Flickr |

tis me colin is referring to
although i do agree the flip front is probably not as tough as a proper full face i think funds are going to be extremely tight for the trackday trip as i still have to pay for the trackday when i arrive, plus the fact that my current tyres are the ones i was hoping to be using for said trip now need replacing due to a puncture so the money i planned to save in the next few weeks is going to be going on new tyres
so now starting from scratch with only a few weeks to save, it's going to be tight, will see how it goes money wise but i think i will just ring the trackday people and check to see if the flip front is ok or not before i go spending money i may need for the general cost's of the trip. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

Mate used a flip front one on a No Limits trackday. No problem at all. Wasnt even mentioned. Just checked on the back that it had the gold sticker
Leathers were checked (if 2 piece that they zipped) and helmet
If in doubt ring the circuit / track day organiser
Or use it as an excuse to get a new helmet. ____________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i've never been really big on personal safety and quite happy to take the risk if they let me, i'm the same at work with grinders and other potentially lethal power tool's never wear any form of safety gear at work........ just the way i am......stupid i guess in some people's opinion but i always see it as my body, my risk, my choice. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

rang the organiser people today, they confirmed that aslong as it has the gold sticker/kite mark then it's ok
I know it's not ideal but i'm hoping it will give me extra insentive not to fall off ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125
