Well ive got an 08 r6, bought new headers so i could get rid of the cat although ive kept the standard exhaust on with the exup still functioning. The lamba sensor is pluged in too, ive got afew questions.

1) Without a power commander, will i be putting any damage on the bike running it without the stock headers and Cat?

2) On a ride today my bike was lacking power higher in the rpm so i removed the exup (guess it was sticking), its fine now but is quiet loud lol would you guys recommend that removing the exup is fine?

3) Now with the exup removed there is slightly more backfire, which makes me think the bike isn't running the way it should be although ive been told with the lamba sensor in i don't have to worry about damaging it just that if i did have a power commander i could get more horses Smile

Thanks Smile

do they have an exup valve?

or are they the same as the SET valve's on Suzuki's, they're there to reduce noise at low RPM in order to pass EU regulations or some rubbish.

(edit* well blow me, didn't think they were still using the EXUP system.

your best bet rather than throwing a power commander at it is to get a power run on a dyno and have them test the air/fuel. It can cost between a tenner - 25 quid to do this, and they'll advise you on wether or not your fuel needs adjusting.

Alot of newer bikes have exhaust valves for emissions and performance reasons.

If you have fitted a fully system, it is likely more free flowing than stock-without readjusting the fuelling most likely you may run a bit lean so it can cause damage to the engine if left alone. I would suggest getting a powercommander and getting the bike properly set up. I believe dynojet do post fuelling maps on their website to help you tune your motor.

You will hear more popping and funny noises from a loud pipe-this is fairly normal, especially on the overrun.

The lamba sensor can only correct within a given (small) range. If you change enough bits the lamba sensor will be adjusting the fuelling as much as it can, and you'll still be running lean.

To be sure get a Power Commander on there. You may be able to get a Power Commander V for the 09 R6. Thumbs Up
