I always had interest in the bike at work. The inevitable question "What cc is it"? "1300 f*ckin' 'ell"... etc. Never had any negativity though. Plus someone always says "My mate has a 'Busa, goes over 200mph". |

I've given up arguing, had a full out argument with my manager and another member of staff over "you bloody bikers", lasted about 10 minutes and it was clear i was getting nowhere at all, i just said whatever and ignored everything else they said, didnt even acknowledge the fact that they were talking. That seemed to piss them off alot, 1 - 0 to me

Not much fuss is made, I guess because I don't make much fuss about riding bikes. It's quite a small company where I work, and in the studio there's only 4 of us. Conversation does revolve around motors and motorsport every now and again, but I tend to talk about cars more than I do about bikes.
Always get the odd conversation about there being "some w*nker carving up traffic and riding too fast in my blind spot" from my peers, expecting, I don't know, some defence or rise on my part "probably drives an Audi during the week" is usually my response.
Likewise, there's the occasional jype about how horrendous it must be to ride a bike in less than perfect weather; I just tend to shrug it off.
I rarely spark up conversations just about bikes, most of the time I guess you wouldn't think I am a "biker". I guess in the past I've bored college mates to death about biking stories and specifications; even down the pub I'd rarely talk about biking.
I am accepted at work for it though, and most of the derogatory biking subjects are probably just to get me involved in a conversation. I get my own parking space right outside the door, so that's never a problem either. |

Biking is positively encouraged where I work. My boss is a biker and the Manager in charge of Transport is a keen supporter of people using bikes to travel to work.
We have showers and locker facilities for our kit and a Motorcycle action group where we meet every three months or so for a chat with Management.
Seems like this is the exception though. ____________________ GSXR600K4 Blue - fastest colour. No mods as yet. Happy with standard bike.

Boss of the unit I work within is a biker, he keeps shouting at me to get some proper boots! I think he will not be amused if I come off and have to spend a lot of time off with mangled feet.
I agree with him so a nice wedge of my overtime laden payslip this month is going on a lovely pair
Aside from that, my direct line manager is a biker too, he's more into his dirt bikes and keeps trying to convince me to get one.
The non-bikers all either ask me if I'm not too hot in all my gear, or give it the tut and eye-rolling. All in the name of the great team spirit we have here ____________________ Current Bike: Honda CBR 600F

Fortunately, I don't think there's anywhere anti bike in the Isle of Man so I'm lucky with the company I work at. My boss rides a bike, one of the Senior Managers has just passed his test and I've put another one of the Managers in touch with an instructor to do his CBT. In addition, I can think straight off of about 10 or so other people in the company that ride regularly and many more have a healthy interest in bikes.
In fact, it was because I ride a bike and my interest in the TT that got me the job there in the first place - there was a signed picture of Martin Finnegan in the boss' office which I remarked on when he asked about my hobbies. I mentioned I was a big fan of the TT and that I rode; funnily enough I got the call that afternoon to ask me when I could start! ____________________ Dead nobodies in company cars... |

I never get anything other than the "Alright Steven, hows the bike going, still got the bike yellow one?", shit like that, or the jokey "bloody bikers, tut" ..but its definitely jokey as its usually by a friend. Think the rest of them are scared of me so I don't know what they really think of me lol ____________________ Suzuki GSX-R750K4 ~ Mivv GP |
