I hear those Dynamec lot are a real good bunch Wink

Yes finally after 7 months in the college workshop Elisha is roadworthy once again,
the project thread probably won't happen for a while but just as a taster we've sorted the exhaust, carburettors, calipers, cooling system,
suspension and the consumables to name a few of the many tasks this project has thrown at us.
She is still running a bit rough with a misfire problem that is effecting low revs but she is nothing as troublesome as she used to be,
I hope to sort that out tomorrow but since Thursday there has been a smile on my face from ear to ear. Mr. Green

We made a mad rush in the final preparations a fortnight ago,
with everyone but me expecting it to be out for last weekend.
I myself decided to make last Wednesday my target and spent the day checking over everything from the electrical system to the torque settings,
arranging the insurance last minute only to get the bike out and have it flood,
then after clearing the floats it started pissing petrol everywhere (The jubilee clips we used weren't suitable on the fuel pipe) which made me two hours late for work so I was less than amused.

Never the less it was out on the following day and as I've said I've been care free since,
not only is this the end of a long depression for me but I now feel I can put so much more into my college work and general business as the project was becoming such a worry/
burden with a track day at Anglesey less than a month away.

I have been very skint recently,
the financial situation this week hit an all time low but I've managed to borrow a little bit for petrol and after today it shall not be a problem.
Over the past 4 days I've been having allot of fun getting to grips with the bike, I was ecstatic on Thursday when I took the bike for a test run around Worcester,
with a tank full of old fuel and a brand new rear disk I was ordered by my lead tutor to take it east and not be longer than 10 minutes.
I was back in time and I did take it easy, by my standards anyway Laughing

I hasn't taken me long at all to get back to grips at all,
the refurbished suspension feels just right for me and I now have confidence in even the crapest of road surfaces,
which used to be my weak point.

The only problem (apart from the misfiring) that I have been having over the past few days is the police, they are literally all over my case, I haven't had one ride were I haven't had an encounter.

The first concern was Saturday evening as I was heading to Worcester from Bromyard,
there was a large right hand sweeping bend that I took at about 100mph, going for knee down but not quite..
As I made the exit I noticed a bike in the distance approaching from a row of cars,
then I recognised the bike and the white helmet, I nodded but I certainly wasn't sticking around for him to make a U-turn. Confused

The incident that has had me thinking a bit though happened yesterday when I was out with Nick and another mate,
Admittedly me and this other kid were riding a bit cuntish though for the most part Nick didn't seem to mind but when we returned to the Knee down roundabout, This very one: The madness ensued.
I had already got the knee down earlier in the morning an even managed to touch the left one down in Bransford which was nice.
But the me and the kid we were riding with got a bit competitive and after he realised that I was actually getting some decent speed around it
(and because we wanted to show up the weekend warriors with their glossy hero blobs) we ended up racing around it.

As the pads started to wear towards the leather and gain some heat we passed the entrance prior to the layby,
a 5 series BMW sat there sticking out like a sore thumb. I think it was only me that clocked it but I carried on as I thought It was taking the next exit,
one the next lap I overtook our mate and then the very came BMW at about 50mph knee down Embarassed
When I returned to the layby there it was sat, in wait, with Nick and the weekend warriors...
all it's surveillance kit shining blatantly on the parcel shelf... SHIT.

To cut a long story short, I can't believe my luck, the second time I've had a talking to from CID in two years and they really don't seem to be fussed about the traffic side of things...
I stopped there and then when I had the option to fuck off like our mate did (who sheepishly returned) but I thought there and then I'd be saying goodbye to my license once again.

The copper was a marvelous fellow who was very realistic and acknowledged that pretty much every biker on the roundabout was there for the same purpose,
never the less Nick and our mate were sat there half pissing themselves and probably thinking on the other hand "here we go again".
He told me he was letting me off with just a warning, like I said I could not believe it at all,
he "preferred to go after real criminals" and besides his college was a biker Smile

After he asked me a few details and pissed himself reading off my numberplate Cool he let us on our way, I shook his hand, offered him a box of chocolates, a bunch of flowers and a date before thanking my lucky stars and getting out of there.

There have been encounters since but insignificant in comparison so not worth a mention, I've learnt a few things though.

A. My confidence is increasing, I'm learning to use new techniques and road craft all the time,
considering the two years I've been riding I still don't count myself as experienced as I could be.

B. Don't judge a book by it's cover, even though I know there are exceptions to the rule IE my brother and next door neighbors I have a great mistrust and despise for the police in general.
This won't change that but it's nice to meet a copper who is actually human and has some compassion, really quite refreshing...
The sort of guy that deserves respect IMHO.

C. I'm going to have to learn some self preservation soon,
this is just the first week and TBH It's starting to feel a bit to much like a game,
my license isn't truly safe until November when my restriction is up...
As far as I'm aware any points and it's a ban for me.
Still my small plate isn't going anywhere and I'm not sure I'm taking it as seriously as I should be,
I know I should be calming down but it doesn't feel like I'm ready to let go yet, I think I'm waiting for my behavior to change out of nature rather than will if that makes sense.

Talking of which sorry if this post is a bit skewed as I am pissed so I'm going to end it abruptly here, just thought I'd share.
Thumbs Up
