Hey chap's and chapettes, posting this on behalf of my cousin.

Forgive me for any dumbness but we're both as mechanically adept as a one-winged pigeon Rolling Eyes

Anyway, she was riding along (don't know what speed) when suddenly the bike dies..."have you got any fuel?" - she has...lots.
The bike starts up fine and idles at 1000rpm then as soon as she twists her wrist it dies a sudden death.

Oil = OK
Fuel = Ok
Electrics (Brake/head light, indicators) = Ok

Its a Keeway something or other. Only 4 months old and bought from millenium motorcycles in St. Helens.

Any help appreciated guys n gal's.

Jay

The first thing i would check is the spark plug. Does it produce a good spark and is it a coffee brown colour?

It could be the vacuum hose or tap that has problems, which is stopping the fuel flowing.

correct me if i'm wrong but keeway are chinese made? i've heard numerous complaints about the duff carburetors on these chinese scooters. the ped is only 4 mths old so bring it back to the shop where it was bought from, it should be under warranty.

You may have a vacuum in your tank, air not getting in. Try open your tank and see if when you do there is a woosh noise. Or you may have a blockage in your exhaust so the engine can't breath.
I would take it back to Millenium and let them sort it out under warranty.

Thanks guys. Everybody I have spoke to has said it sounds fuel related (here and 2 other forums).

Steo, its not a ped but rather a "proper" bike...insofar as it has gears Razz

Skudd and Baldy I will have her check as soon as she is home on Sunday, nothing I can do till then but I think it is defo going to be a back to millenium jobby if she can get it down here (she lives near huddersfield)...reckon it might be a long push Laughing
