If you want to get an old school fix of Everquest, I can recommend this game. They've taken the original and made it their own - new quests, new items, and they've revamped the zones - Freeport is now a high level zone, for example. There's no more corpse runs, as your stuff stays on you when you die. No XP loss on death, instead you get an XP debt that has to be paid before you start gaining again (a rez will pay this off). Everyone can bandage to 100%. Everyone can bind. Religion has been rewritten to be more in line with the D&D Lawful/Evil/Chaotic/Neutral. Tradeskill increases give experience, even fishing. There isn't a bazaar, but instead a mail system using bankers. You can leave things for sale in your listing slots and log off. Since the population is low in comparison with live, /ooc and /auction is server wide. There's no Plane of Knowledge, so you'll have to use the boats or the Mansion of Portals, which can kill you if you hang around. Have a look at the main differences here.

If you're interested in giving it a go, you need at least up to the Everquest Titanium pack installed. My last install went up to LDoN, so I found it easier to just download the ISOs for it :-

Either burn the ISOs to CD, or mount them with your favourite proggy.

After install, DON'T run the patcher. Instead, go and get the SoD patcher. This will also install EQWindows, makiing ALT-Tabbing much easier, especially when running two sessions on the same PC. Whilst you are there, get the EQPlayNice proggy too - it stops the game hogging all the resources.

Register an account. It's free and there's no limit to how many accounts you can create. There is a 2 box limit per person, so your Shaman/Monk duo is good to roll Smile

The GMs and Devs are active, and they do enforce the rules.

There's a good Wiki and an active forum. Use them, especially for tradeskills, as it's not the same as EQ live.

If you have a go, say hi to Picca, Lowan, Klout or Hoopy Thumbs Up
