Went off roading today and got bogged down in this really wet stucky mud! Took me about 10mins to get out of it reving the engine like shit!

Got out to find that i had no clutch left! Had a bit of adjustment left on the adjustment by the engine which got me home!

Its still slipping tho. Anyway! how are is it to change the plates on an XR125L? been reading that its pretty simple!

Iv ordered a complete kit, plates, Spings, Gasket and oil!

anyone done one of these before?

Try the worksop section..... Good advice provided in there for guess what Rolling Eyes

Oh and next time you get stuck... Embarassed

Don't rev the tits off it. Higher gear, let it tick over and pull itself out slowly..
Failing that stop engine and rotate wheel by hand.

Comes out no end easier and saves a fortune on new bits......

ignore him, he rides a divvy.

REV THE KNACKERS OFF IT AND GO ALL ARGHHGHGRAGGHHH ON THAT FUCKING MUD!

Take my advice, i also ride a divvy Mr. Green

But yeah, iooi is right, just let it creep out, it gives the mud and crap time to settle into some sort of structure rather than ripping it out of the way immediately.

As for clutch friction plates, cover off, unscrew 5/6 bolts retaining the springs, take the plates out, replace.

Try soaking the new plates in oil before use though, i dont think it makes much difference but it allows them to be lubricated should you want to go straight fro a ride.

So yet more divvy advice...... Laughing

Oiled plates will do nowt but slip with all that oil over them..... Wink

Clutch must have been on the verge of going if spinning the wheel under next to no load fried it...

leave them soaked in oil for about 24 hours before you fit them, otherwise they will be dry and the friction part will just break up into loads of bits.

Makes no difference really, some specify that you have to, some you don't.

Follow the instructions you get with your set.

Superbike mag has a changing clutch plates guide in it this month actually, may be worth a read. Thumbs Up

I only bought a hd one because the standard clutch cant cope with the extra power of the big bore kit etc.

Wouldnt buy one for a standard bike

The heavy clutch may annoy you. Wink
