Right, a mate's built a chop and he's come to wiring in the rear lights ( came with no actual name on them or wiring diagram ), they are a twin set-up with three wires coming from the back of each side, from outside in they are-Black-Red and Yellow...

Now, he's got the Black and the Red wires sorted, but he's stumped as to what the yellow wires do, he Earthed them which causes the lights to stay on and he's connected them together which gives him only the main rear lights and no brake lights ( that could be the other way around, can't remember )...

Anyone got any idea as to what the Yellow wires are for ?...

Best bet is just to try different things. Unless there is some sort of standard wiring code then it is probably impossible to give an exact answer without the name of the lights or something.

*awaits Keith to prove me wrong*

I should also add that as it's a chop he chopped the Loom aswell, so it's down to the bare minimum as far as I know...

Hi

I would expect to each bulb there would be 3 wires. One common earth, one for the rear light and one for the brake light. Suspect the black wire is the common earth.

All the best

Keith
