Over 3,000 in two weeks has got me questioning my current equipment and I'm sure that my helmet is not up to standard.

I have a HJC CL-ST which I thought was great when I first bought it, but that was compared to a cheap Lidl lid.

On my recent tour (and previously) I noticed a number of problems that i'd like to fix with a new helmet.

1) With all vents closed the helmet lets in lots of air, even at low speed. This of course gets in my eyes causing them water.

2) at higher speeds air gets in the helmet from underneath lifting it up off my head

3) At even higher speeds (130mph+) the wind pushed the helmet enough to that it is almost squashing my face.

4) The helmet has straps coming from the ear areas, this makes fitting my autocom speakers very difficult.

5) It doesn't have a pinlock and the antifog coating does not work

6) I'm a small and i'm not sure the helmet comes in different shell sizes.

Can anyone recommend a helmet that corrects all these problems?

Looking at around £200

Have a look at some Arai Chasers, I managed to get mine for about £250. Highly reccommend it, very comfy, good ventilation, pinlock comes with the helmet also.

If you look around for last seasons designs you may find some bargains!

Shoei XR1000

Go to a shop and try on all you can. I found that I love Arai helmets, so very comfy but the above Shoeis don't fit my head. Whereas my Mum & Dad hate Arais and like Shoeis.

It's all in your head type. Razz

Any of the two mentioned above. Get it fitted at a shop since the shoei and the arai definitely fit differently. Both are very good lids. If you can get used to the visor change mechanism and can anticipate a snapped side pod, get an arai. It's very very comfortable and well padded. The shoei is quieter and has excellent ventilation but I feel more exposed in it since the chin bar does not extend as far down as the arai.

A smidge over budget (but you can shop around) - Shoei Multitec. Very comfy with autocom fitted, comes with a couple of visors and pinlock and various quietening devices. Yes, it's a flipfont but its very light and comfy, and reasonably quiet.

I second that, my Chaser was an absolutely excellent lid, far better than the Corsair. What you said about it lifting and squashing against your face tells me that your lid doesn't fit you properly! Both my chaser and corsair did this before i got them custom fitted. All the guy did was put about an extra 10mm thicknss of foam in the cheek pads and a 20mm thick pad, about the size of 2 postage stamps, in the back of the neck area. Comfortable upto 150 now Thumbs Up

The vents are the Corsair are fiddly to use at speed with gloves on, especially as theres one in the middle and two on either side of the lid (front and back). Means you have to reach over the top of your head to get to them, makes you look like a right spag. It's a really noisy lid too. The Chaser was very quiet in comparison and very comfy with easy to use vents.

And it comes in 3 different shell sizes, with sizes from XS, S, M, L, XL. XS and S are one shell, M and L are the next, and XL is a bigger shell again.

If you use quite a small lid, try the Astro, comes in sizes down to XXXS. I couldn't even get it onto my head Laughing
