To go at my bloody bike with something heavy and damaging. Got it running nicely, took it 40 miles to check it, not a problem. Went the 7 miles to work today, nothing, went 10 miles to a friends house, still no problems, but as soon as i tried to leave it started grumbling, and then refused to start, checked the plug and its covered in soot, its still running rich Evil or Very Mad cleaned the plug and checked the spark, lovely fierce blue one. took the float bowl of, checked all the jets for crap and its clean as a whistle. so tomorrow im making a flywheel holding tool from 6mm steel so i can change the points and see if it helps, otherwise im gonna take it to bits and get the next size piston. there is compression btw, it just refuses to fire, even when bump starting, it might occasionally pick up for one or 2 strokes but then goes back to a flat tone Sad

Have you checked that the bike is on standard jets? I've got a similar rich running problem on my RD350LC and it turns out that the DPO (dreaded previous owner) had put 230 mains in instead of the standard 220s. D'oh.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
