Took the bike out for a bit of a tour/thrash tonight for the first time in ages. Was uneventful until I found myself on the turn off for the bypass behind some kind of Westfield. On closer inspection it said 'MegaBlade' across the back.

Bloke sat in it was eyeballing me and revving the nuts off it at the junction and as we were about to turn onto a roundabout heading for a 2 lane dual carriageway I thought we had an accord! Im not one for racing but Ive always had an admiration for these things and I'd love to be fortunate enough to own one. Hence I was gagging to see how fast it was as the noise from it had already whipped me up into a stupor.

Anyway the rather poor ending is that he set himself up to really hammer it off the roundabout and then pulled off into a residential estate. Leaving me waving my fist in the air in dusgust. I was so looking forward to it, I wouldnt have cared even if he trounced me!

Bloody gutted, he knew from the first second he was going to do it too I bet. Made me look a right dick!! Embarassed Laughing

On the way home I wondered if he'd have done that had I been a four wheeled opponent. Im off to look for one on ebay Evil or Very Mad

7's in the right hands are an awesome bit of kit - generally they're owned and driven in an enthusiastic manner. Their lightweight build gives handling and power:weight ratios almost on a par with 'supercars' - the BECs take it a stage further. Shame he didn't want to play - i played with one on my old SRAD 600, couldn't match the bike's straightline acceleration, but around the twisties i struggled to get him off my tail.

Because it says megablade on the car would make you think it had a blade engine in, which they do the cbr 900 lumps, look more fun than a bike if im being honest, but only becuase its like a rocket powered go kart Laughing

My inital impression was that he would get round the roundabout a hell of a lot quicker than I would have and gotten a headstart, mainly because of the bloody 206 in the way.

The other reason is that the bypass is very windy, and although I have no fear of ragging the bike right to the top end I hate to do it with cross winds so maybe would have had to 'just' beat him instead of going silly.

The busa would have tortured him straightline for sure, but given the choice of the car or the bike? Car for me every time, what a class little toy!

Ive been looking on piston heads £10,500 for a Westfield 'MegaBusa', now you're talking!!

128mph seems a bit... low... for such a powerful engine in there, gearing a bit crappy?

I'll give you a race in my Locoblade if you like! Not been able to test it against any bikes yet...

Mine weighs about 450kgs and has a 954 engine in, so should be a pretty fair match for most bikes, although the top speed is pretty low, I'd imagine it wouldn't make a true 120mph, the gearing's too short to go any higher, and it's as aerodynamic as a brick (although it has a tiny windscreen), as has been said.

The same reason all bike-engined cars are under-geared - if you gear them for top-end your 1st gear is too tall to pull the skin off a rice pudding let alone get the car moving.

Class bit of kit Thumbs Up I'd like to think though at 170bhp and 240kg I would have the straightline advantage. But a race to 120mph will only be a 12 second sprint I'd imagine for the pair of us. Anything other than a perfectly straight line though and I'd either be in a bush or watching you disappear.

Ive been talking to a bloke at work who has one of these all day today. I love them!! Megabusa for me please!! Thing is I have the cash in the bank to buy one but I need it for a house deposit!

Villers if you take 12 seconds to get to 120mph you need to hang up your gloves Very Happy

Try 10.3-ish to 130 Wink

Conservative estimate Geri, Im not one to end up in the 'It can't do that' debate. Notice I said 170bhp and not 180 Laughing

Besides we arent all balls-of-steel sprinters like yourself Wink

Don't under-estimate yourself - as a dragracer/sprinter I'm crap. Got told off by Paul 'Grumpy' Watson once 'if you weren't pissing about doing wheelies that woul dhave been a good run' Very Happy

10.3 would be easy after a days sprinting practice on the runway or at the strip mate - you should try it sometime.

I reckon you'd win then! I think it'd be a closer race with a 600. Obviously it'd be easier to get a good start in the car, but a skilled rider is going to win most of the time I'd have thought.

Easier to slide around without crashing in the car though Smile

edit: you can get a decent bike powered kit car for £5k if you look around, so needn't be too expensive
