Hi all

Wonder if someone can help.

Picked up an R Reg CBR600F last night and rode 120 miles home, which was lots of fun Laughing However, had a problem with the rev counter going intermittant - on the motorway it was working, then I looked down and it'd dropped to zero, then 5 mins later had rectified itself and was working again.

Whilst sitting at the services it dropped again - so I turned the bike off, restarted it and it started to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks Smile

will most likely be a loose / dry / dirty connector if its on off.

bit of a sh1t if its on the panel end as its fiddly as hell to get the off on mine.

Righty ho - sounds like I need to get me a Haynes manual and start pulling it to bits.

Is it an electric sender or some sort of cable drive?

Thanks for your help Thumbs Up

By far the biggest cause of CBR tacho wobble is the screws that hold it in place get rusted. They bolt straight through the back of the circuit board and eventually they stop conducting.

Whip the thing out, replace the screws if they are rusted and scrub up the contacts with a kitchen sponge and some vinegar until they are shiny.

Thumbs Up

the clocks are an arse.

You'll have to remove the whole front, disconnect the wiring blocks, remove the mirrors and the plastic bits, then use a deep narrow 8mm socket to get to the three bolts holding it all in place.

It also might be easier to undo the bottom front subframe bolts and rotate the subframe down and away from the front to get access.

Thumbs Up
