Hi,
I recently brought a 54 plate derbi senda. It runs fine apart from sometimes in 4th gear, i have full revs on but the engine is not picking up any more revs. It stays at the same revs and creeps up and then the powerband kicks in and its normal again. Also, when going up hills, it seems to lose power very quickly. I am in 2nd gear, full revs and am scared to change gear because the revs just die off and i end up having to shift down to 2nd again.
Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,
Stu

Lol. This is the answer i feared in receiving Laughing

Surely, in all seriousness, there must be something that is causing the rapid decline in power when going uphill? I noticed the end can is missing a bolt which connects it to the exhaust pipe ... maybe this is causing the lack of power in the higher gears..?

Thanks,
Stu

geared 50cc bikes (un-restricted anyway) should fly up hills no problem, mine does and all my mates do, so yes there is a problem!.

do you know if its restricted?
what exhaust is on it?
has it got any other mods?

have you put " top end " sprockets on it?
Then it would fail up hills.

if its a smoker check the oil levels up enough and that your not semi seizing the barrel lol.

get an engineer to have a spy round things for ya???

i really dont know much on this bike to be honest matey. sorry i dont know more! Confused

i have a senda 55 plate and if you dont give it a lot of rev in 1st gear well actually every gear then when you change it feels like your losing power but your not its because youve come out of a short power band and into lower revs again minium gear change should be at least 9k revs if you wanna get up to top speed. (in other words after warming up rev up to the red line, but not over)

also on hills mine does a good 30mph up a reasonable hill and a serious one like a good 20-30 degree hill probs about 20mph, and you'll be stuck either in a gear thats reving the ball off, or in a gear thats drowning its self (2 stroke small cc engines)

plus forgot to add,

weather is a big issue, even the smallest amount of wind or bad weather can change the performance of them even in the higher gears you can feel stuck in between a gear or find a crappy rev area before you reach the power band to enable the next gear.

IM gonna second the notion of its a fifty!
mine has a flat spot between 4 and 6 k! maybe you are hitting just under the powerband!
mine struggles up hills also! but now i have a lovely coolant leak out the radiator hahaha so its not going anywhere! haha, BTW does anyone know about the two pins sticking out the bottom of the rad as its leaking out them! cheers

I think it might be your head gasket, that's what I have just had done on mine. I lost the use of gears 4,5 and 6 one by one then it wouldn't accelerate even with full revs I had to change down. Look for any water coming out of it and I would avoid going to far away from home!
hope I am of help.
