Been hearing rumours around the net that Sony were redesigning the PS3, to save money, increase sales and it's the 'done thing' now with consoles.

Found this today. Will be buying one when it surfaces.

My original massive PS3 is still going strong.
I can see why Sony do it, but the "slim line" version always seems to be more flimsy.

My brother has a PS3 and it's still going strong too. Fine machine. Only reason I havn't bought one is becuase I have (usually) got free access and couldn't justify the cost.

But I have some extra cash coming in so will most definatly get my own when this comes out. Well... after it has settled and any faults found/fixed.

Fair, the slimeline PS2 just seemed to be a flimsy piece of crap compared to the original big version..

Heard it was a fake on N4G. Although a "cut down" version of the PS3 is coming.

I found the slim line ps2 more reliable than the original. I've had two originals, both suffered with laser problems. Think this was a common fault with the original ps2.

Had two slim lines in the house since near release, and they both have and always read the discs first time every time.

Looks like a fake, as has been stated above, the PS3 writing on the box is not the lettering used, and it doesn't look very professional.

Apparently it was from a reputable source. Also the website that hosted these pics were given a cease and desist by a chinese company, claiming the images contained sensitive material that could be damaging for the company. The text isn't very far fetched. It looks similar to the PS2 text, but curvier.

And as for sony not announcing it. Why would they? They're going to try and clear the retail channels of all the old PS3's before they even think of announcing it let alone releasing it.

I always had a sneaking suspicion that Sony just created mini PS2's to prevent people using HD loader.

They came down on that software like the twin towers when it started to take off.

Best softmod EVER.

(I know there was an HD loader for mini ps2, but it had major compatibility shortcomings)
