Thinking about buying a CBF125 and just wondered if anyone has one? I just want it for a bike to get me to my new job which is going to be 50 mile round trip!

Its going to be the CBF125 or the YBR125 which i dont really like the look of!

wouldnt mind some input here!

Was looking at them, there for short arses like the cbr125.
great fuel economy tho, i wouldnt be expecting much from the engine tho.

My friend has just bought the CBF , its a nice little bike 60 - 70 mph and 135 mpg, quite like riding it doesn't feel too small

Its ment to have a modded CG engine! Ill be clocking up a lot of miles on it! just want something which can handle it!

Erm, aren't all these pretty expensive bikes?
Presuming you haven't done your test, it would seem to make much more sense to pass your test, then get a bike that can comfortably sit at reasonable speeds for your commute (ie not be stuck in the redline just to do the appropriate 'recommended' speed for a dual carriageway.)

What's wrong with your XR125 for doing the trip? Seems pretty similar really, very high mpg, bit too slow for the mway. What does the commute involve?

What types of roads you going to be travelling on? A roads, NSL, urban? All depends, I think.

Thought about a 125 for my commute, then drove the car at 60mph all the way in to work and decided it was a bad idea. Little bikes would be stressful.

I keep bloody having to replace parts on the dam thing! My oil seals on my forks have gone now! iv had the bike 3 months (3200miles) and iv had to replace :-


2 tyres
chain kit
new front pads
new clutch kit
new front disc
changed oil
spark plug


in 16months of owning my 2000 CG i changed the chain once and had to buy a new head light blub and 2 tyres in 10,000 miles!!


I was hoping buying a new bike would mean not needing to buy parts!

Since you've already replaced a lot of the consumables surely it's efficient to use that for the trips? Thumbs Up
