Hi guys.

The bike needs a rebuild as it was neglected most of it's life, and now that its mine, im going to nurse it back to health Wink

Thought that while it's in bits, i might as well repaint it as i hate the blue.

Im thinking red, or black... not too sure at the moment though.

Before and after pics, with my skeelz in photoshop.

Any suggestions?

Edit: Also fitting a round headlight on monday

Cheers

The thing is a right state just now, tightened the chain a bit today, no pics, but it is still a bit on the loose side so the bike will be in bits for the next week.

Will get more pics tomorrow if i have time.

Here's mine in red. Personally i'd love to see one in bright yellow.

I don't understand why you've done a paint shop when you could have just google'd it but hey ho...
I've rented a fair few of the older bikes and the red wasn't very thrilling, I actually liked the mettalic Grey one...
Black would be cool I think, keep in mind though that whatever you do you'd need to inform the DVLA of a colour change, you just send them the V5 section stating the change.
Good luck with it anyway, I like the CG's I do. Thumbs Up

I did it black then changed my mind and did red, and completely forgot about using the net Laughing

Never seen a black CG, apart from rats...

Will have a look see what it's going to cost me for the paint etc.

And yeah i know, i dont think it even says blue on the V5 Shocked

Apparently it doesn't really matter about the colour change... but il send it away anyways.

Cheers

Thought i would make a start...

Off to a great start, Fork seal is leaking.
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01280.jpg?t=1243282401
Will have to sort that soon

Then i took the side panels off. hooray, i found a sheared bolt.
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01284.jpg?t=1243282361

But once i got all the panels off i decided to give it a good wash/clean as it was a right state...
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01285.jpg?t=1243282310
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01287.jpg?t=1243282265
And the tank has a lot of wear from where the seat rests against it.
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01286.jpg?t=1243282241

hmm.....
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01288.jpg?t=1243282325

And then i had to go revise as i have two exams tomorrow.

I like

I have a lot of time on my hands...

What it should look like when it's finished, plus maybe a black engine with the 'honda' in red.
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/Black-1.jpg?t=1243286624

Oyea, and maybe a nicer exhaust.

Cheers

There we are, good work... and yes that colour scheme is nice Thumbs Up
The seal pictured is a dust seal, which may or may not be in good condition, I'd say from the looks of it it's fine.
The oil seal is located inside the outer tube and is in obvious need of replacement.

Fork oil seals are £4.50 each, or you can buy a Fork seal set (one oil and one dust seal) for £8.75.

So came home from my first exam... had 3 hours.

More problems Laughing

Air Filter box was manky, so cleaned that.

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01289.jpg?t=1243374935

Then i spotted the air filter i hadn't bothered to check...

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01290.jpg?t=1243374950

Then i decided to take off the exhaust to get these little devils cleaned and straightened...

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01291.jpg?t=1243374981

Trust it to be the ONLY socket i have lost....

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01292.jpg?t=1243374818

So after some scrounging i got my hands on one

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01293.jpg?t=1243374843

Dirty girl
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01294.jpg?t=1243374872

But clean at the same time Shocked
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01295.jpg?t=1243374894

And at this point my phone decided to die on me.

So i took the Crank case off and gave it a right good clean.... Sprockets and chain need replacing, no pics as i forgot my PDA was on my pocket.

Then i remembered as i lay down to put the case back on.

After cleaning the crap off...

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/image_00010.jpg?t=1243374711

Look better without the exhaust?
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/image_00011.jpg?t=1243374731

This is how its done guys, i never noticed how light the bike actually is...

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/image_00012.jpg?t=1243374465

Turns out the bike has been dropped at some point and the Exhaust bracket has been bent causing the exhaust to lay at an angle... This means that it's shaking when the bike is revved, and causing the whole frame to shake. It's also rattling loudly. So will straighten that out and add a bit of rubber into the bracket to stop it. Easy job, just dont have the time...

Working the next few days so won't get anything done... Will update as i do stuff...

Edit: forgot to mention, is it a bad thing im left with a bolt?

Cheers

Fitted the round headlight before work today, Looks better IMO.

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01296.jpg?t=1243548236
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01297.jpg?t=1243548544

Also had a look at bending the exhaust bracket back into place and failed. Looks like im going to have to get some help from the old man tomorrow Thumbs Up

Will update then

Righto. after the off i have decided not to do a colour change. If i do it will be matt black Thumbs Up

So....

Cosmetics are fine, they don't need fixed ASAP so i'm leaving them till i get payed.

Yesterday whilst helping hazy i noticed that my chain was slack, so i took off the chain guard today and noticed it was tight again. Wierd.

Turned the rear wheel.

tight, CLICK CLICK, slack. and back to tight again.

Took the case of and had a look. The sprocket was minced.

SO!

Went and found myself a new chain and sprocket set.

Didn't bother changing the rear sprocket, too much work.

So i changed the front and replaced the chain, lubing the new one up.

Testing the wear on the old chain.

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC00034.jpg?t=1244298945

Then i wanted to see what it'd look like with straight bars... so i found a competition set for my speedway bike.

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC00035.jpg?t=1244298821
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC00036.jpg?t=1244298843
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC00037.jpg?t=1244298866
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC00038.jpg?t=1244298895

And then they turned out to be too short for the CG's grips, mirror and electrics so i took them off and put a new set on.

Have a bigger set of Renthal ones.... might fit them...

but they are red Thumbs Down

But yea... took my time so that's all i got done today.

Cheers

Thats quite cool Mr. Green

Might try and get that can...

Also going to look for the new shape plastics, as mine are a bit scratched up and not really the best looking after my little off...

But yea hopefully should end up looking kind of like that, but matt black.

Edit: Just realised... That bike has the new plastics and new shape, yet still has the front drum brake. Why, because we all know how hopeless the CG's brakes are, would they opt out of the disk brake? Confused

Cheers
