Hi,

The forks on my 1999 CBR 600 FX have started rusting, keep trying to clean them but it keeps coming back, and they are starting to get pitted to the point I dont think it will get through the next MOT Sad

Seems I have 3 options:

1) Get a 2nd hand set from Ebay - Will other years fit my bike, if so which years?

2) Get new stanchions, have seen a couple of places selling them for around £80 (wemoto.com)- has anyone had any experiance with these parts, are they as good as the orgiinals?

3. Get the existing stantions re-chromed - Is this worth doing?

FWIW I've had several sets chromed and ground by these, https://www.pittedforks.co.uk/, and never had a problem. Finish is different than original though. Try ABE, https://www.allbikeengineering.co.uk/abe/forks.htm, for new stantions.

The '99 F-X is the same as the '00 F-Y, so those will fit too.

Forks from the newer CBR f's will fit, but have different spring rates / damping.
