Removing Hard Tank Pads.....

As per the title, I need to removed a carbon fibre tank pad from my tank...

Any tips for doing this? The pad is actually hard carbon fibre so I can't really peel it back, and ideally I'd like to not break it!

It's held on by some 3M sticky pads....


Anyone got any good tips for removing it? I can just about get my fingernails underneath, but I can't get enough leverage yet to pull it off...

Heat it up with a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive. Once off use of WD40 to remove the sticky gunk left behind.

Brake cleaner will dissolve the sticky residue left behind a bit better than WD40.

Ok guys, cheers, got it off.

Wouldn't budge for a while, just couldn't get the leverage underneath it to pull.

Managed to pull a rag tight and slide it underneath, and used it sort of like a big bit of tooth floss, and that seem to 'saw' through the sticky stuff quite nicely!

WD-40 and fingernails got the residue off no problem!

P.s I hope N30 never decides he want's to get rid of his carbon, his fingernails are going to be very sore!
