My little 88 honda H100 is in for its MOT this afternoon and i have very dim lights. I have checked and cleaned the earths but to no avail and put a spanking new battery on yesterday.

The indicators and the headlight are both very dim only really emitting any serious light when the engine has some revs on. I know these old electric systems are notoriously weak but is this normal?

Pretty much normal, yes. It's a 25w, 6v bulb running on a single phase of AC, they are utterly pish.

The flashers and brake light run on a differernt phase via the battery. If they are coming on and flashing, that's about as much as you can expect. If the horn works, there is plenty of charge, it's the first thing to pack in.

They'll let you run the engine for the lights/indicator check, just mention it when you hand the bike over.
