So today finally arrived and I went and picked up my brand new Yamaha XT125X. So far I'm really enjoying it, despite the fact that the engine obvioulsy needs to be broken in (36-40mph is not ideal in 60mph speed limits lol!) Anyway heres some photos of my first ever bike, enjoy!:

So there you are, my first bike!! I even managed to get a couple of nods and a White Van Man asked to help when I stalled coming out of a junction lol Laughing !!
Hope you like the pics. Thumbs Up Very Happy

Looking sharp mate.
Just don't like the combination of "brand new" and "first bike".
Enjoy it Thumbs Up

Bikes ok, from the front and the back it looks quite cool but the shape from the side seems weird.
Also agree with the L-plates comment Razz

Non the less enjoy the riding! Thumbs Up

Yeh I know, thats how it came from the dealerhip Rolling Eyes lol!

About the shape, I suppose I can kind of see what you mean about how it looks from the side but tbh, I reckon it could probably be worse lol! Very Happy

OMG those L plates are fucking ridiculous! If i had of PDI'd that bike i would of tapered a hard l-plate to the REG and round squared a sticky back one an stuck it on above the headlight like any other sane person.
I've done plenty like that.

Looks nice. Cool

Personally wouldn't bother breaking it in, just don't redline it. Very Happy

Yeh it is good fun! Be more fun once it gets fully run in (I am sort of running it in like the manual says but then I get the urge on the nice empty, straight country roads to give it a bit more welly lol Wink !!) Would I need different tires for greenlaning or do you reckon these ones will be ok? Thanks.

that's a very nice looking bike you got there,

the seat looks well comfy

I remember the XT as being a proper traily & I'm not sure if I approve of most manufactures sudden fascination with all things super moto but at least yamaha have made a better job of it than honda did with the XR

follow the owners manual running in procedure, because, the more care you take of it now the longer the engine will last, & the better price you will get for it when you sell it on

I don't think those tires would be up to much off road, they might get you around a dry green lane but I wouldn't expect too much from them on anything muddy

I've found avon gripsters to be a nice intermediate tyre if you want to have a go at a bit of trail riding

I had one as my 2nd 125 (going from a 125 cruiser to a 125 SM is quite strange Laughing ). I absolutley loved it, didn't want to sell it (even when i couldn't physically ride a bike) but needed to get rid to make room for a new bike.

Seen as though its brand new, take off the heat shield on the exhaust and loctite the bolts/screw thingies. Just look on ebay and see how many bikes there are for sale without the heat shield Wink

The stock tyres (pirelli mt75's or something?) are OK in the dry, i absolutley hated them in the wet and i only rode along dusty/dirt tracks so can't comment on offroad. I ended up putting Michelin pilot 'sporty's on it (not pilot sports, but pilot sportys Laughing ). I think they are classed as big wheel scooter tyres but they worked perfectly fine in the wet and dry.

Hi guys
@ mr rip, yeh the seats really nice! I took it down a short gravel/dust track today, it was alright but I'm not sure how well the tyres would do on a muddy track like you say! I might have a look at the avons

@MattHirst, surely taking the heat guard off will not be a good thing? I'll probably have a look at the Michelins aswell, thanks.

Very Happy Very Happy

I feel the urge to go into work tomorrow and actually cut down a front and rear L plate for you and send them to you with a bit of sticky back tape for the hard rear plate....
