I've got some scratches on the textured plastic front of my petrol tank (I think it's actually a cover over the air intakes).

Is there any way of taking these out? The problem is it's textured plastic so any work I do will result in smooth areas. Should I just leave it?

(It looks a lot worse in the picture than it actually is, maybe because it's a very sunny day and it's a close up Confused )

Yes you can buy the texture coating in aerosol cans. Rub down all the scratches, spray the coating then the colour on top. I watched a painter transform a pair of scraped-up mirrors to like new in about 15 minutes using that stuff.

looks like deep scratches. The texture paint is good if you know how to use it. id practice on something first otherwise you'll muck up the plastics.

i dont want to down your spirits but its quite a hard thing to make textured surfaces new again.

i have tried and failed many times. tried and succeeded once or twice though.

Cheers guys, I reckon I might leave it. I'm fairly handy but I reckon I'll probably end up ruining it!
