I,m not one for posting about my personal life on BCF but l,ve got a bit of a dilemer.

I headed off on a long bike tour to Asia and the middle east two weeks ago, over a year of planing and saving for this trip of a life time. Being a 4 month long trip l left my job of course so am jobless, it also now seems like l,m going to be homeless as well.

I made it perfectly clear to my family that l was going to go travling for a few months just like alot of people my age do (22) and they did,nt have any problems with this l was also encourced and they were intrested in what l was doing. after having a few problems two weeks into my trip l told my dad l was coming home for a bit which he seemed shocked and angry by over the phone which got me to phone my sister (who lives with her boy friend) to see whats been going on, according to her my dad and his girl friend cleared out my room and removed all of my things from the house and into storage which really shocked me as they never said they were going to do this.

I got back home late last night and my room has been completey cleared apart from the bed (everything in the room including furniture was brought by myself) also all my tools and bike stuff has been removed from the garage, over all it looks like l never exsited in this house that l have lived in all my life.

Today l spoke to my dad who has now made it clear that he,s selling the house and did,nt expect me to return for 6 months therefore l,ve caught the bastreds in the act, so as well as having all my personal things taken away l,ve been completely fucked over.

Any ideas how to go about this? the bike trip is screwed and l,m just left with whats on my bike.

He was never like this before we have always got along never argued no problems ever, but his girl freind who hes been with for a few years now is very manipulative even more than women normaly are and she has 3 young childern who have in a way replaced me and my sister.

Two houses one with a complete family setup and the other whats left from a prevoius failed marriage, make sense to disguard the past.

I don't really get it, did he hope to sell the house in 6months (bit optimistic in this climate) and have you return to there being no house and all your stuff in storage? Or was he planning to have a room for you in the new house, presumably not?

What did he expect you to do when you came back in 6months time, with no job and probably very low on money where would you stay until you found work and could afford a flat/room.

Is it not possible for you to get your tools back out of storage, use the garage to fix your bike then head off again and let him put it back into storage. Then worry about what to do when you get back in 6months?

Tatters I am sorry to hear of your predicament something not disimilar happened to me about 10 years ago.

He is well within his rights to do this though remember this.

I would do one of two things:

Forget the trip , sell the bike and get somewhere to live quickly bedsits are unpleasant and small but you can usually get them quickly , and rebuild from where you left off. (this is the prudent advice).

The less prudent advice is this , to repair the bike , go visit your dad and say goodbye (nothing more) and walk away and go do your big trip, but adjust it so that you are not utterly destitute when you finish and to have a different terminus.

I cannot offer you a place to stay in the UK as I have nothing left in the UK anymore. I can however offer you a place to stay in Hong Kong and I think a guy like you can get a job in Hong Kong teaching easily (even if you have no qualifications) , and can probably help out with the sponsorship of your work visa. Once you are back on your feet , you can decide what to do after that...

My time on target for arrival in Hong Kong is 10th - 18th August and I'll probably be there till at least October.

Tatters, have a word with your sister, and see if there is any way that you can store some of your kit at hers...in the loft or spare room.

Ask around a few mates too, see if you can store bits and bobs with them.

Once you've got your storage sorted, get your stuff back from your Dad and then do your best to walk away.

Sort yourself out, and then get back to your trip.

Do not let your extremely selfish father to ruin your life. When you come back, you can get things sorted, sleep on a few sofa's and then get things sorted.
