Ok this is probably quite retarded but laundry has never been my strong point.

I have a cap that I bought in Germany a few years ago thats like a plastic kind of mesh on the back and a suede/leather kind of thing on the peak. It's in dire need of a wash but I don't want to ruin the peak, will it be ok to just put it through a regular cycle with a load of washing? I usually put stuff through at 40 degrees.

There's no cleaning instructions on the cap by the way.

the peak is probably made of card. what marks to you have on the cap?

If only the peak is suede/leather I would carefully hand wash all but the peak, being careful not to wet the suede, (you will end up with water marks that you wont get rid of), then I would buy some suede/leather cleaner like the stuff you get for shoes and use that on the peak.

I would not put it in the washing machine at all.

BTW I am speaking as a professional dry cleaner.

I usually put mine in the wash, on 30 degrees, and then hang on the line to dry. They come up clean.

Go back and buy another one, it's a good excuse for a ride.

I thought they were plastic these days? The one I'm wearing at the moment certainly doesn't feel like card, it's set in a curve and won't flatten if you try to bend it.
