FZ6 V APRILLA SHIVER OPINIONS

HEY ALL

IM LOOKING FOR A NEW BIKE AFTER ABOUT A YEAR SINCE I SOLD ME GSXR 750 AND LOOKING FOR A SIT UP STREETFIGHTER MIDDLE WEIight (sorry for the caps) bike..

ive narrowed it down to a naked fz6 or a 750 shiver...

got 3-4k for the right bike....would like a street tripple but a lil too pricey....

so just wondering if you can offer any advice on the fz6 or the shiver....

1st bike was a sv650 so i enjoyed the v twin low end as i have had a cbr600 and hated the fact you had to screw it all the time but ive never ridden i detuned sports 600 so cant really compare...

so if you fz6 or shiver owners wanna help me with your opinions id be most greatfull...

I've got an FZ6n, very happy with it. I've heard that it's a good idea to replace the link pipe to get better performance lower down the revs. I've had no issues though ( but then again it's my 1st 600, only got the NSR to compare it with)

Odd, I'd say a CBR600 has a more low-down grunt and you have to thrash the SV to get anywhere quickly, thanks to it's total lack of power.
Gear the CBR600 (I presume it's not a /really/ old one) the same as the SV and you might have found your experience a bit different!

I admit, though, that the SV does 'feel' very flat, giving the impression that revving it doesn't make much difference. However, for me, they same would be said about the four cylinder commuter bikes too.

I don't know, but suspect the Shiver might have better handling than the FZ, so would go for it on that basis, presuming that's true!

Indeed the CBR600F models had a hell of alot more low down grunt than my CBR600RR (which had sod all).

And SV650s dont really have much of an increase of power at higher revs unlike sporty twins.

I personally find the previous model R1 terrible to ride on the road, you have to rag them and when you do its stupidly quick.

Get a shiver, just for the fact it's far more exotic than the FZ6 and you don't see one every day!

I have an fz6n, never had any trouble with it and that was doing around 10,000miles in 6 months. Got some renthals on mine which made it fair bit more comfortable and looked nice as well.

cheers....the price may swing it to the fz6. also ive read about reliability issues witht the shiver....

all the fazer owners seem to be very happy also...
