 |
|
Had a little play on way to work last night with an BMW M3.
It was a 58 plate, nothing interesting - he was in front, I went past, he tried to go faster - failed miserably, but it reminded me of a little battle I had a few weeks ago.
I was heading to Hatfield, from Hemel Hempstead along the A414, having just crossed the London Colney roundabout. I noticed the brand new, black GTR as it undertook a line of traffic I was in.
I filtered up to it and just as I pulled in behind, the road in front cleared and 'Bam!', off he went.
(for the safety nazi's, let's just say the A414 suddenly became a private runway and all the other traffic filtered off on to the B0110X)
Now, bear in mind, we were at about 85-90 when his foot went heavy, what happened next surprised me. I had anticipated the challenge and had selected a moderate gear - but he really went some... I went head down and pinned it and slowly reeled him back in. He noticed and moved across politely and past I went, but not much faster than him!?!
I glanced down and clocked 170 go by, then checked my mirror only to find he had moved back across and was still clinging on!!
Looking ahead I could see the Smallford roundabout closing at a scary pace, and a quick glance at the clocks confirmed a 180+ figure.
Amazingly, as I went to brake, I noticed he was hot on my tail and as I went through the double roundabout and hopped past a couple of cagers, he had caught up with me and was getting ready to go again.
This time I was more savvy, and as we pulled off the roundabout and the road opened up, I proper gunned it. From about the 40 mark, head down, eyes front, taking each gear to just under the red line.
As I hit about 160 I looked back. Thankfully, a more respectable gap had appeared, but even still, not quite as big as I would have liked.
As we approached the University roundabout, I backed off and he came sailing up beside me, grinning from ear to ear, the cheeky fecker. Thumbs up from him and we went our separate ways.
I was shocked at the ferocious pace that the GTR showed.
Granted, it's 60k of car but that would have shamed many a super car, easily. Had I have been on the old ZZR600, I really think it would have beat me.
If my lotto numbers come up, I know what car I will be getting for a complete hoon about in. ____________________ Mungel

The GT-R has almost 500 bhp and will do a shade under the 200mph mark, it's a super car basically. It is one of the fastest production cars to go round the Nurburgring apparently....
Well done for holding him off though, sounds like fun
I saw my first Bugatti Veyron in the flesh the other day, unfortunately it was going the other way down the motorway ____________________ Honda SFX50 > Aprilia SR125 > Aprilia RS125 > Honda RFV400 > K4 GSXR600 > KTM Duke > C1H 636 > K3 GSXR1000 > Aprilia RSV-R > Triumph Street Triple R > Ducati 899 Panigale > Aprilia Tuono 1100 > Triumph Daytona 675R > KTM SuperDuke 1290 2.0 |

The GTR looked fairly impressive when it was on Top Gear.
As you say though, 60K is a lot of cash, especially compared with a second-hand sports bike. Even for 60K, a GTR can't filter through traffic jams
I'm not sure of the wisdom of specifying so much detail of your 'hypothetical' encounter though.... ____________________ TDM850 |

'Nissan GTR = Surprisingly fas'
nothing surprising about it
and more around £50-55k than £60k (its around $60k but after importing etc.. you wouldnt get it at that price)
personally i think the speeds you were doing were ludicious but its your life i guess so i wont make a big deal out of that.
tis a beast of a car for sure.. ____________________ CBR954RR - Daily toy

Surely a forum post cant be used as any sort of evidence? Could easily claim you made it up to try and show off. ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500

Its been used sucessfully before many a time
as what you write is a representation of you, plus if they have other evidence and youve admitted doing it, youve shot yourself on the foot no? ____________________ Past: '05 Peugeot XPS '99 Aprillia RS125 '94 FZR600R

Would highly depend on that 'other' evidence though. ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500

Fucking no-one I'll bet.
No way could anything on here be used as evidence in a court of law. They would have to have other evidence.
People just like rolling the line out, 'cos it makes it cooler if it's a serect, innit.
I have done 160mph on the M3. Come and bust me little piggies. |

I bet the police just use Facebook/Forum posts as a sidenote to scare people. The video/photo evidence would be what seals the deal. ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500

Theres a red GTR thats always around St Albans too, every time I have seen him he is squealing away from junctions foot to the floor, music blaring.
Exactly the kind of customer Nissan is trying so hard to disassociate themselves from. Would take an R32+RB26 over the GTR any day.
Not that I am jealous, at all |
