Caught me a thieving b4stard,but still not satisfied!

About a month ago at work my wallet dissapeared,was in it's usual place with my phone and bike keys and about half way through dinner i needed my phone,picked it up and realised my wallet wasn't there,all of us turned the garage upside down looking for it but was never found,now at dinner time we all sit in the tyre bay and i've worked with these lads for about 6yr now so didn't think for one minute it was anything to do with them,only person in frame was the valeter whose been with us a few month but would never have thought he had the balls or that it was in his nature(real scrawny shy lad and tbh i was the only person that liked him),however a random thief would have surely took my phone aswell so assumed i'd lost it,since then had noticed i wasn't putting much money in the bank and instead i was taking money out and as i never new exactly how much money was in my wallet i just thought i was spending more.However,yesterday i new exactly how much was in there as it was spoken for,so was quite shocked to discover that out of £30 20 of it was gone,mentioned it to gaffer and pointed out that he was the only person in there all day(apart from me) and once i'd assured him i wasn't mistaken he decided to do something about it,this morning he marked a £10 note and 2 £5 notes and put them in my wallet,set up a camera and waited,it paid off,the little b4stard persistently attempted whenever i left the workshop but kept getting disturbed seconds away from succeeding,i decided enough was enough and everybody should stay out the workshop for a few minutes,went to check my wallet and 15 of the 20 had gone,he absoloutly shat himself when i confronted him and took £25 out of his pocket claiming he brought it to work with him,once gaffer pointed out he was seen on camera(although not recorded) and the marks on the notes were what he put there to catch him he new he was fooked,gaffer sent me to calm down and assured me he'd deal with it and got the lad to admit stealing the £20 yesterday but denies stealing my wallet,then the cheeky f*ker says "I'll go to cashpoint and get you the £20 back",took the £20 back and after being sacked he went to get his compressor,told him he wasn't taking it as i'm sure he'd robbed me every day and I was keeping it,apparently the compressor isn't his but i told him that wasn't my problem as my wallet didn't belong to him but he took it,his g/f mum then rang up saying the compressor belonged to someone in her family and they wanted it back or they were calling the police,now he was given 3 options,1-leave me the compressor and f**k off, 2-we call the police,3-I beat the shit out of him,he f**ked off so i've kept the compressor,i think he got off lightly as he really deserved all 3,what would you have done? bearing in mind we also had a carpark full of customers

Calling the police would probably get him a caution at best and likely a "we can't do anything as there is no evidence". You'd be out of pocket.

Kicking the shit out of him would be satisfying though maybe not as much now you've calmed down a bit. Still leaves you out of pocket.
Though you could/should combine it with.......

keeping the compressor which is best for you. To be sure there is no chance of the little fucker getting it back make it dissapear and say it was nicked. Afterall there is a theif knocking around, they even stole your wallet too.

If he wants his compressor back, make a best estimate about how much money was taken and tell him if he wants the compressor back, he needs to make reparations.

As far as the law is concerned, your right, even if the video was recorded it wouldn't be admissable in criminal law. However, in civil law it could be.

In the same way you can't prove he took any money before, he can't prove that he didn't. The predominance of evidence (your boss man's and your own statement) coupled with his behaviour you do know about, makes it probable that he was the culprit.

Do you think the guy would crack if the police were present in an interview? If he did and confessed, it would save a lot of hassle. If not, a firm letter from a 'lawyer' threatening civil action. (I wouldn't go through it myself, but it would seriously put the shits up him.)

Theft is the worst of crimes. Some people think it's only money but its not, its the theft of pride, trust and at the risk of sounding wishy washy; innocence.

Well if I where you I would have gave him a kick up the ass, no where visable really where he can sue for it. Told his family what a thieving scrot he was to disgrace him , called the police and told them about it and say he admitted to stealing the compressor also. He will call police on you anyway to get it back, get there first. Then after it all calms down beat the shit out of him.
