(another) Aprilia mx125 powervalve/solenoid issue

further to previous posts on other topics...ive got this new bike, the cdi has been derestricted already, and ive been trying to check the powervalve, to see if its working properly. ive taken the blade out, given it a clean and its in the right way, everythings fine there. ive just taken the tank off to get a better view at the solenoid, its plugged in but its not moving when i rev the throttle, i can operate it manually, which has an effect on the way the engine runs. any ideas?

The valve should be open at low revs (under 2500rpm), then closed up to about 8000 and then open again.

Does the valve show any sign of opening / closing? Can you put a multimeter over the connectors to the solonoid and check for the changes in voltage at around 2500 and 8000?

hi, no the solenoid shows no sign of opening, doesnt budge. i dont have a fluke tester so cant test the voltages, might take it the dealers. think the solenoids faulty! if it will cost too much ill just leave it, its quite quick neway

A cheap multimeter will do the job (Maplins were selling them at £5 for 2 not long ago).

There is very little to go wrong with the solonoid.

cheers keith, if there is no voltage what can i expect the problem to be?

Hi

Control unit or the loom I would suspect. Possibly the feed from the cdi to the control unit, possibly the wires from the control unit to the solonoid.
