Hi, this is my first question so here goes. My son has a Piaggio NRG Power DT 2006 reg which stopped running. At first there was no spark so I changed the spark plug. That seemed ok so I then tried it again but it still did not start. So the next thing I thought was fuel, stripped and checked the carb and pump this seemed ok. Looked at the spark, no spark again. Have now put a new CDI unit on it thinking it was that. Still no spark. I now think it may be an electrical fault. In the meantime I have sent off for a Haynes manual. I have not had a bike for many years now, and things have changed somewhat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, after checking all that you're off to a good start, the only things left to look at are the pickup and coil.

Sorry if this sounds a bit condescending, but has it ever run out of 2 stroke oil? If it runs out there's some sort of seal and you can't start it again til you've bled the system.

Again, sorry if this is really obvious Laughing

Thanks for the help. First I don't think it has ever run out of oil but, I don't want to sound condescending either but this would not explain the reason for no spark or would it. Second I have done a continuity check on the HT lead and cap and it seems ok or is there another way to check them. Last, how do I check the pickup and coil, or am I better waiting for the manual to arrive. Once again thanks.

If it had run out of 2 stroke oil the chances are the engine would have seized.

OK purchased a new DTI as I was told it might be this. Checked all the wiring I think I need to check, this seems ok. Still no spark, can anyone suggest what I might try next. Thanks.
