Hi all, just a quick question, im currently building a cr with a crm engine in, and its getting ready to be put on the road and in for its mot, just wanting to put a horn on it, however i have found a few live feeds with the bike running and they are only showing 2.65 volts, with the multimetre ( however this mulitimetre has been playing up and may be faulty), but even when revved up and wired up to the horn, it only makes the horn vibrate and not even produce any noise, unless you put your ear right up against it, (the horn is brand new 12v one, ive tried testing it on a good battery and its fine, so that should rule out the horn and any adjustment).

So i was just wondering how you get your horn to work with no battery, just the magneto, which is just the standered crm one.I would of thought it would produce enough power to make the horn work? been looking around and ive seen you can buy 6volt ones, do you think this is what i would need?
Any help would be super
Many Thanks
Jim

Use on of these..
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-Bulb-Horn-BRAND-NEW-handlebar-bracket-included_W0QQitemZ350217614809QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL?hash=item518a98b5d9&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

If the MOT guy is stroppy he may demand a horn that sounds a continual note so buy one of these.

Thanks for the help, i asked the local mot guy the other day and he said it needs to be a proper wired up horn, so guess im just going to have to try and sort out the wiring issues, tried a different rec, but think it could be the stator at fault. Thumbs Up
Thanks again

If everything else works, by far the easiest way if you're not sure about the wiring will be to just stick a small battery in the bike and run it from that

Post 1973 the horn should make a continual single note. How it does that is absolutly nothing to do with the MOT man.
