Bit of a weird one in my books. - Rather longish post.

sunday - Wake up with a headache, Completly put it out of my mind and carry on as normal, no other problems or anything, but the headache stays all day.

Monday - Wake up with a headache again - Go into work, and My temperature Jumps up to 100odd, slight Dizziness / Nausia feeling - Take 2 Paracetamol, Try to sit it out, but the headache gets worse. - Temperature starts to drop - Went to see my manager to feared it may be swine flu - so she sends me home and says to call NHS Direct.

I called nhs direct, gave them everything, Told them every ache, Every weird symptom - they said theyd call me back - 6 + 1/2 hours later, a nurse calls back and goes through it again and says it appears to be a form of Flu - However, he didnt go into any more detail, and seemed to evade any questions on swine flu or what i should do.

so i called my GP, Told him, and he said he would say its swine flu.

Tuesday - Wake up again with a headache - Normal temperature, Dizziness Returns, but differently, i feel like i have been drinking, I feel on my way to being pissed.

My Headache and drunk feeling has stayed all day, But i havent had any increase of temperature or anything - Temp at the time of typing this message = 98.1.

If i stand in the middle of the room, i can feel myself starting to sway and move, Im sat on my chair typing this - and again, i can feel myself swaying and moving.

Does this actually sound like swine flu? Is this something else?

In myself, everything else seems fine, Feel a little weak from this, but as far as i can think at the moment, there isnt anything else..

Thanks.

Swine flu has already become the same kind of meaningless buzz word as credit crunch.
Thanks go to our pathetic media for that once again.

I'm not a doctor.

Lots of people around here are complaining of the constant headache symptoms.

With as much hysteria and pressure on doctors as there is at the moment, I can't see them diagnosing anyone complaining of vaguely flu like symptoms with anything other than swine flu. How can they not?

Seems like you have the flu, you can get tamiflu, or just let it run its course (possibly try other usual flu placebo's) like normal people do when there isnt media hysteria.

Thanks wildgoose, thats why i didnt want to call either of them back! because it seemed a streight up diagnosis, without seeing me - hence why i havent been to the doctors in over 10 years!!

Never had the flu before, so i cant liken it to anything ive had!

I'm certainly no doctor (and I'm not doing dressing up as a nurse either) but my only experience of balance issues is an ear infection.

Any infection can give you a temperature, ear infections do not always give you earache and are really quite serious if left untreated. If I was you I'd see if you can get an appointment at your GP's even if it's a Nurse appointment, as they can check it all out quite quickly.

There are other illnesses over and above Swine Flu still going on, so don't be fobbed off and sit and suffer!

EDIT: Just re-read your thread and walking like a drunk was one of the key signs for inner ear infections - get a professional to take a look.

If you are physically fit you should have no more problem with swine flu than any other type of flu. The symptoms of flu can also affect the inner ear which may cause balance problems. Best thing you can do is take paracetamol and ibuprofen - plenty of fluids (non alcoholic) and rest.

Hope you feel better soon x

If you hadn't contacted the GP I'd have gone with ear infection, maybe Labirinthitus as that can make you feel drunk with the room spinning.

Still, we live and learn and I'm sure your details of the symptoms will enable someone to call in with a convincing sickie when required Thumbs Up

I got this yesterday, my symptoms are exactly like yours. Phoned NHS direct and they confirmed it to be flu/viral related.

It sucks but I'm already feeing better today it was just the first night that was absolute hell.

I'm taking 2x paracetamol and 2x nurofen every 4-6 hours, vitamin c and dissolvable echinacea aswell.

How ae your symptoms progressing a few days in?

wouldnt that mean you would just reinfect him ?

surely better for you both to take the tamiflu

AFAIK you can't catch the same flu twice, as you build up immunity as a result of having the flu. Hence people trying to organise 'flu parties' for their kids now. It could be seen to be better to get it over and done with now in the summer heat than once it gets cold and damp in the winter when other factors could make it worse.

Yep, once you've had it, thats it. You cant get it again (thank fuck, cos its shite..)
Or at least until it mutates...
From what the doc told me, tamiflu just lessens the symptons and lets you get over it maybe a day or so earlier, at the time i didnt feel too bad but it seems to be getting worse, so i might have to take some.
In a way i was kind of hoping to get it now rather than in the winter, kind of the lesser of two evils.

The next Flu virus to come round should be called "Ugly person flu" or " retards only flu" that way no one will get it.

Was a interesting piece on the radio the other day.... Seems that swine flu cases are rising at a alarming rate.....

Yet the company that was doing the testing were saying that less than 1 in 10 tests were coming back as swine flu.... And in their view, its all hyped up beyond a joke... Which was quite good as they were making a lot of £ out of all the tests...

So, you tell them your symptoms and they say swine flu..... Without seeing you....

I can see a fantastic way to save the NHS millions... We shut all the docs down and make people just phone up a nurse.... Twisted Evil

Time that they had a lot of doc's that did nothing but go round all these so called cases and test them, so that there were some decent figure's... Not just something based on numbers plucked out of the sky.

The ideal thing the goverment could tell them to say to avoid panic.

Just a thought.

I assume I just had 'swine' flu, I find it a huge coincidence I just happened to have flu the week it was introduced into this area.

Either way it was shivers and aches for 48hrs and now I'm fine, what a load of bollocks.
