Just built one 2 weeks ago which is running the ud5 mobo and the 920.
The ud5 seems to get some good kudos over the P6T.
I went with OCZ ram though in a triple kit but only got the 1333. In retrospect I should have went with the 1600. I listened to some poor advice on this one and took it as gospel instead of researching it like I did for everything else.
I'm oc'd to 3.9ghz right now and my memory is running at 1560 iirc.
I went with water cooling and grabbed the swiftech h20 220 and am pretty happy with it.
My temps are pretty good at around 30c for idle and around 45 or so at full load on testing.
I had a hd 4890 and a mate sold me his cheap as he just picked up a gtx295 which is a beast.
Not much on benching between my 2 4890s and his 295 but if I'm honest he still gets me in the end .

Not sure if you're planning on Overclocking but from the link you gave and with the noctua I would say it's a maybe
This will give you the bios settings to reach 4ghz and provides some temp checks to perform along the way.
They use that exact board and chip but went with the thermalright extreme 120 which as per this link
https://www.legitreviews.com/article/880/1/didn't perform quite as well as the noctua.
What case are you planning on sticking it in and what gpus will you be running ? ____________________ meh |

You got a nice machine Den
Well the good thing is, the package comes pre-overclocked and its on warranty as well I think.
Its pretty much plug and play, i already have a ok GC [EN8800 GTS] and a ok PSU Seasonic 600w.
Still not sure but I will most probably go for the antec 900 case, its not the best but a good all rounder. https://www.ebuyer.com/product/118268.
Just need to pick a nice Hard drive and find the £700 (most probably get this in the next 3-4 weeks) Then I am good to go. ____________________ Bike Level: Amateur | CBT Passed

Thanks mate.
If you're considering the 900 have a squiz at the 1200 too.
Mate just upgraded at the same time as me but just his case.
He went from the 9 to the 12 and it's soooo much roomier and bigger.
If you're considering water cooling later or sli/crossfire I can 100% recommend a full tower case over a mid. Not to mention the ease of install and space for cable management if you want a clean looking install.
Also worth checking is the clearance of the noctua and the side of the case.
The side fan on the 9 is removable so could offer extra clearance if need be.
The gb mobos come with software called easytune6 which allows you to oc up to 3.2 automatically and also to alter things manually if you so choose.
I still use it for the monitoring aspect (temps/ voltage etc) but did my oc through the bios.
Keep me updated if you go ahead with it and let me know what ya think.
Good luck ____________________ meh |
