If trails were your life where would you move to?

If you had nothing (so-so job, no family, no debt, no ties basically) to stay for/hold you down to your current place of residence and doing trails was your #1 hobby/pass-time/obsession, where would you move to, either in the UK or anywhere in the E.U. and why?

I'm interested to know what Wales is like for trails in comparison to the best places in England. Also interested in a country within the E.U. that's great for trails and would be easy to get on with until your learned the language a bit.

Scotland isn't the place to be really

They even have motorcycle trials routes and green lanes waymarked and graded according to difficulty.

Never though of the IoM but I'm guessing finding a job would be more difficult.

Trying to get my job back FT (PT just now) but if I don't get it by the end of the year I'm going to look for something else and wouldn't think twice about moving.

Been looking at YouTube of trails in different countries, very tempting but a much bigger commitment.

Spain. It's lovely weather all the time, great riding, some lovely honeys and they're all asleep half the time having siesta's so you can goto town on their wives.

If you could stand being involved with americans on a Daily basis, they have some very good things in some places. Ie government approved and rated trails which you can ride on non-road legal vehicles.

In Europe, Spain does have the best reputation.

I don't think there's any one place I'd choose for trails in the UK - given the choice I generally find Hare and Hounds more fun and there's lots of them around the country.

yup, G, I've been looking in to Hare & Hounds events and I understand you don't need much to take part? Just an ACU/SACU license which you can get for one day then pay the remainder for a year if you so desired. There's one in November I might try to attend and see if it's something I'd like to get in to. Not sure how the KLX650 would fare on such an event but it does leave me plenty of time to even pick up an older enduro type bike.

A KLX might be pushing it a bit - the first one I did was on my 690, which was manageable, but not ideal.
Rather than Hare and Hounds, I suggest you have a look at 'rallies' - these are a time card style event - lots of them have loads of bigger bikes attending, including BMW1200GS', so your KLX would be well suited.

Hmm, sounds interesting. I'll have a look to see if there's any rallies going on near me - or is there a site that has them listed?, doesn't matter I'll go Google my eyes out

I think the rallies would suit me better anyway as I'm not really into the faster paced, hard-action competition side of things. I'm assuming rallies are a bit easier going.

I was asking on another forum a few years ago about doing the Hafren rally on my CRM125 and if it'd be ok - someone replied that they and two friends were doing it on C90s, so I should be fine.

Hmm, seems most/all rallies are in England/Wales . Not many events of any kind in Scotland except the Enduro Championship or Trials which seems a little so-so to me, not my thing.

Guess I'll just need to fart about on my local MX track and the MX track/stuff at Drumclog.

You may find a mx track rather out of the KLXs league - even things like DRZs struggle - the big 4 stroke EXCs apparently aren't the best either, though the 2 strokes manage it as they're pretty light.
I've ridden motocross on my 200EXC, with a 'no fuel' weight of 102kg or something - wouldn't like to be doing the same thing on a bike that weighed over 50% more. Does depend on how serious a track it is, though.

I've had it on a smaller track, think it was a kids thing or a BMX track - It's a bit big to be fair and I need to sort the gearing out as where I wanted it was between 1st and 2nd gear basically (may be ok on bigger tracks)..

The track near me is a lot bigger obviously, about 1.2 mile long he said, I had a look and it looks manageable, wont be as fast as smaller bikes but should still be fun.

for me i would move to the states because they are into alot of motocross and stuff, alot of tracks in some states so i guess it would be a good place

Quite a high density of motocross tracks around here and loads of people into it too - it's the trail stuff we lack.

^ yup.. I now know of four MX tracks near me but no real trails.
