Hi

I've been thinking about getting a TZR 250 for the past while and came across this ad in gumtree https://belfast.gumtree.com/belfast/74/39878074.html. I texted the guy this morning and he said it was still there. What's your opinions of the one in the ad, and in general, what sort of things should I be looking out for when considering one of these?

Cheers Thumbs Up

Ian

Hi

Fairly sure that one has been on Ebay recently but can't see if under completed listings.

Anyway, solid enough bikes, Do about 120mph. Spares are generally not bad. Quite small bikes.

Bit dubious about that one having been resprayed and having had the frame resprayed. However if you are close to Bangor then probably worth checking it out.

All the best

Keith

Thanks Keith Thumbs Up

Wasn't aware that one had been on ebay. Like yourself, was a bit concerned about that one having been resprayed.

When you say they're quite small. Are they similar in terms of size to a 400? I have a Suzuki GSX 400 which I'm currently restoring and to be honest it's small enough for me (I'm 6ft). I'm not sure I could cope with anything much smaller!?

Bangor is relatively close to me (well less than 60 miles). I'm still undecided whether to head over and have a look, which is why I was wanting the opinions of knowledgable people on here!

Cheers

Ian

Hi

Height wise probably about the same as most 400s (taller than a CBR400 though) but narrower.

Charlotte can ride mine without problems and she is about 5'2" with a dodgy right leg.

Be worth checking that it hasn't been thrashed to death on a race track (and remember when new in Northern Ireland it would have been a learner legal bike).

Whereabouts are you based?

All the best

Keith

Good point - didn't know about the learner legal thing. Knew that learners over here had been able to ride up to 250cc at a point but didn't know when the legislation changed.

I'm based in Ballymoney near the North Coast (where the Dunlops lived) so Bangor is about 60 odd miles south of me. Think I read somewhere that you worked over here for a while?

Hi

Think the law changed in the mid 1990s, although insurance was so expensive that few could afford insurance as a leaner on a 250. Few managed it though.

I went to school in Bangor from 1983 to 1987. Lived in Killinchy.

All the best

Keith
