....sit when you are stationary? Like at the lights or in traffic.

On my CBR it's by the book, foot on the rear brake but i'm not sure if that will change once I've got a heavier bike Thinking

If it's level then usually both feet on the floor (because of laziness, not because I'm short) if it's on a hill or something then it's foot on rear brake.

Most of the time it's both feet on the floor though.

I never ever use the rear brake, it may aswell not be there. I rarely use it at lights. I sit with both feet down generally, maybe cover the gear lever if I'm feeling frisky.

foot on the rear brake, and i usually set some revs on amber, pick up the foot, kick down to first and have pulled off without putting the other foot down.... so its not really an inconvienience

Covering the rear brake is not by the book per se, it is just by the DSA's book.

If you go onto do advanced you will be encouraged to put your right foot to ground and cover the gears to avoid the Hendon shuffle exceptn in certain circumstances where you have no option but to put your left foot down or you are so short you have to put both feet down.

+1 Thumbs Up Have it in 1st before I put my foot down to prevent shuffling.

Occasionally circumstances means having both feet down but still have it in gear.. unless I know I'm in for a wait in which case it'll be neutral.

Same here, bike in gear, left foot down, right foot on the rear brake.

Unless of course it's one of those mental cambers where it'd be suicide to try putting your left foot down.

It varies depending on the conditions. Although I would say that if you can put both feet down, you're not short.

When I did my IAM training they still advised me to do the Hendon shuffle, is it something that has changed recently or are they just out of whack?

I don't get the short people putting two feet down bit. Surely if your short its easier to just slide a bit to the side and put one foot down?

If I'm not going to be stopping long I just put it in first and don't particularly notice which foot i put down. If I'm stopping for a long time, say at lights then i'll kick into neutral, put both feet down and drum the tank because i get bored.

I used to sit in neutral, upright, hands on tank and rear brake on. 'Cause this bike is heavy and neutral can be awkward at times, I sit with both levers pulled in usually and both feet down.

+1 on this, smooth riding is where it's at.

If I actually do stop it's right foot on the rear brake, bike in first with the clutch in. If I know it's a long 'un then bike in neutral. Thumbs Up

If I can, I put it in neutral just before I stop.

I didn't answer your poll because none apply... I sit with both feet on the floor, because my left leg is damaged and I cannot rely on it to support me.
