Depends on the rider, the only 'issue' with it is a longer than most stretch to the bars, it's not especially committed, just long. I've not ridden anywhere on one but given that I consider my bike to be 'comfortable' minus the creaking knees, I don't think I'd have any issues on a Busa either Smile

There's plenty more extreme stuff out there Wink

I don't see what looks uncomfortable about it really.
Not too bad, might be more of an issue for smaller people as it's reasonably big for a sports bike.

Quite low though (fair bit lower than a ZX12R), which might give cramped knees to those who are tall.

All the best

Speaking as a gnome it is one of the few modern sporting bikes that I actualy can ride as it is so low down.

I'm not exactly tall, but nor am I short and didn't find it a big problem - definitely less cramped than my zx9 with rear-sets set to the most 'comfortable' position.
Oh and it's a tourer, not sports Razz.

It looks like a barge, is really cramped up for people taller than 5 foot, has lots of power and handles like a tourer.

A busa was 3rd on the list of bikes when i bought my blade, after the r1. It cost the same as well.
I just couldn't fit on it as i'm 6 foot 3. The pictures you see make it look huge but it's really long and low and very curvy.

Think Im qualified for this one. Coming from an 06 636 with its razor blade seat and severe position the Hayabusa was like heaven. I'm 5'9" or thereabouts I think and about 11 stone. The bars seem quite far away but the peg height is ideal and the seat is roomy. I dont feel cramped on the bike at all and I can ride it casually without it breaking my wrists or making my back hurt.

I have a recurring back problem which the 636 aggravated something rotten, to the point I could only do 50 odd miles before I had to get off! No such problem with the Hayabusa at all.

Definately not for taller riders, I think the idea that it suits bigger riders is a complete myth. Would be ok if you were short and fat though because it wouldnt make much diffference to the amount it pulls Laughing

On the note of handling, its not as bad as people believe. It is a difficult bike to ride quickly as you need to be quite aggresive, its certainly a different experience from my Ninja anyway. The brakes can be pretty wick too.

If you have a shortlist of bikes that include a blade and an R1 then why on earth is something so far removed from that genre as a Hayabusa on there too? You cant compare something as focused as a modern 1000cc sportsbike to something like the Hayabusa. As for comfort I dont think I could cope with a full on sportsbike. Looking at this years models and sitting on them at the bike show they all feeled like plasticcy little toys, really tiny and the seating position was really harsh. My back certainly wouldnt cope with them for any amount of time, which is a shame as I would really like a blade before I give bikes up as Honda are the only manufacturer I would go back to. Definately no more suzukis or kawasakis for me Laughing

To be pendantic, I say "it's reasonably big for a sports bike"... which is true; as it would be if I was, say, talking about an Elephant, too... it doesn't mean I was describing it as a sports bike! Razz
(Erm, err, yes, I'm sure that was what I meant!)

Yeah but forgetful people always have to guess. I may be 5 foot 7 or something, its not something that worries me on a day to day basis Laughing

I wasn't comparing them to each other, i just like it as a bike. I originally set out to get something along the lines of a sports tourer, the busa and the zzr were originally my first choices but the zzr lacked the build quality of the busa imo. When i went for a look at th suzuki they had a fireblade next to it, but having already tried the r1 i thought i was going to be disappointed but i found it better than the suzuki. It was higher with a bit better riding position for me, and could still had a lot of the low down power like the suzi had. I would say that the honda is just as comfortable as the busa, but has a little more to give performance wise to someone like me.

If i had the money to buy either the new r1 or the new hayabusa, i would choose the suzuki every time. Yamaha super sports bikes are a little too track focused and uncomfortable for my liking.

No. I'm 6'1" and 17 stone, fit me like a glove.

Ah now I get you! I thought you had an application in mind and those were you three choices. Thats the same reason I got mine, because I wanted one. Of course there was the obligatory test ride etc but I didnt pick it because it had any particular fantastic thing I needed. The only crieteria I had was that it wasnt too harsh on my back, after that it was whatever took my fancy.

As for the blade being as comfortable as the Hayabusa, you have my very intrigued - perhaps I could have one of the sporty thou's without the career threatening back muscle injuries Cool
