use a desktop computer like a network hub?

Basically the PC upstairs is connected to the wireless router downstairs. Is there a way to connect another computer (that only has an ethernet card) to this PC so it can use the internet as well?

stick another network card into it and bridge them.

Alternatively use a wireless bridge (most wireless routers can be set up as a bridge but check before you buy typical price about £25 but you can go cheaper https://www.ebuyer.com/product/132431 ) Wireles bridge connects to wireless network and router functions as a hub (you'll need to turn off the DHCP server in the bridge) typically with 4 ports, so you can plug in a pc, xbox360 bla bla bla.

Happy networking Very Happy
