Hi chaps

RVF is still looking quite sorry for itself with a broken radiator.

Is it ok to fire it up for a few seconds? Just so I know it's running ok before I put the cooling system back together. Been tracing a spark fault and its an arse to get to the front plugs with the rads on.

cheers

Thumbs Up

Off topic but...

I was thinking is there such a thing as a stupid question?

If you don't know you ask.
If you don't ask then you don't know.
You only get something if you ask for it.

I guess the trick is getting the right answer(s).

up to 15 secs is fine.

jus keep an eye on the temp sensor as they can cook to f*** as its not in coolant.

The worst thing that could happen is cold seize or it warping the head/barrel. Things heat up a lot faster without any water.

I've done it a few times and no problems yet. Just don't run it for more than 15-20 seconds.

Hi

Should be OK for a short while (I know of people who drag race liquid cooled 2 strokes and run them without coolant).

The temperature gauge won't tell you anything useful as it is designed to measure the coolant temp, and with no coolant there it will be pretty useless.

All the best

Keith

I'd say you'd be safe for a minute or two.
