Hi!

I've just recently bought a new 2003 Honda NSR 125. Yesterday I reached the 1000 km where i have to stay below 5000 rpm's. Accourding to the owners manual i could now take the bike up to 7000 rpm's and be a bit more agressive on the throttle. I don't know how this bike should act at this level. In my opinion i think it's starting to "shake" after 5000 rpm's and it doesn't seem to give particulery more effect either. Is this normal due to the running in period or could something be wrong? Anyway, the bike is going in for a first service tomorrow at the local dealer, so I guess I can ask there, just wanted to hear what you guys think. Oh, By the way, i have the restricted version that has 15 bhp because of the restrictions in Norway. And is running in that serious? I've taken it pretty serious and never went over 5000 rpm's and been easy on the throttle, but some people in here says that running in to easy isn't good either?

Well, well, I'm new to this forum and don't really know if this is the place to ask, but anyways, thanks for any info you can give me Smile

Running in is pretty important. If you didn't run it in then you *might* get a bit more power, but the engine wouldn't last long at all.

The shake could just be normal engine vibration. The power on the NSR starts at around 7.5k RPM, so don't expect much difference between 5 and 7k.

Ok, thanks for the info

I guess I have nothing to worry about then Smile I have done the running in properly too so I guess I should be fine. Does anyone have an opinion on what could be apropiate throttle to use in the period from 1000 km to 1600 km where I can go up to 7000 rpm's?

Use as much throttle as you want, so long as you don't go over 7k too much you will be ok.

Try and vary your rev's as well, it can do it harm if you just sit at constant revs for a time while you are running in.

Also if your trying to get to 7'000rpm from when the bike is cold.
You'll get a hell of alot of vibration untill the bike warms itself up.
(Due to it being a 2 stroke an all...)
