Anyone ever done this?

Got the diagnosis from the doc last week that i had a significant tearing / rupturing of the quadricep muscle from a gym/football injury. I was on crutches for the first few days.

The doc just kind of intimated that I wouldnt be playing football for a few weeks and that it would be fine after a feew weeks rest but it's been 8 days now and my thigh is still pretty swollen from my groin to my knee to the point that my kneecap is barely visible now under the swelling and it's still seriously painful - arguably more painful then when i tore and split my tendon in a bike accident 18 months ago. If I catch it on something or dont move it for an hour or so the pain makes me want to vom!

Am I just being a puff or has the doctor fobbed me off?

May go and see my physio in the morning. Rolling Eyes

Nah your not being a puff lol It is a vicious circle, rest it-less pain-stiff leg / move it- pain- better mobility Confused

I think the physio would definitely help with some exercises for you- they will be able to judge how much you should and shouldnt do based on the extent of it too.

Are you elevating it when resting? I expect ice/ frozen peas would help too with the swelling, pain in the backside I know.

If you think the pain and swelling is getting worse, you really should get it checked again- you might need some sort of scan to see the extent of the tear.

Hope its better soon though.

Not that anyone is bothered but it turns out that I may require surgery on the rupture and have got water on the knee following the swelling.

No more running or football until October. All from a simple twinge when warming up Shocked Thumbs Down

Bummer.
