Train.

Whats the point in riding 2,3 or even 4 times a distance that leaves you in severe agony? Its going to hurt there and even more so come the return journey.

Whilst my injuries are not similar I do benefit from taking Glucosamine daily.

Before taking Glucosamine I used to have to loosen up my ankle/foot before walking etc... now I don't need to unless it's particularly cold or I've been in one position for a long time.

To ease the ache I use ibuprofen cream, and/or deep freeze spray.

If you're getting cramps you may want to consider drinking more fluids and adding an essential salts replacement (like Elate) to the water.

For fluid retention, I recommend seeing your G.P.

I ache lots after a journey on the bike. I regularly stretch my hands and fingers (whilst riding), take several 10-15min breaks to stand, walk about, or even take photo's whilst on a long journey.

I have recently fitted bar risers to the handlebars which helps a fair bit. But I also use ibruprofen gel on the affected areas.

I have friends who swear by Green Lipped Mussel oil (can get in tablet form), Cod Liver oil, and Glucosamine.

Go to your pharmacist and ask if they stock Man Utilisation Performer. in liquid or capsules. I used to ache doing certain activities but someone introduced me to Man UP formula.

I can't Karma that enough Muzza. Laughing

The simple answer is lots of breaks way before the pain starts to set in, I don't you will ever find a cure, just preventative measures. Thumbs Up

how did they fix your scaphoid? mine was broken for 18 months before i finally got it seen to, so they bone grafted and pinned it.

i continued to use it as normal after about 3-4 weeks, and was riding bikes after a couple of days. (bump started and rode a 1984 GSXR400 home from hospital).

i've got about 90% movement in it now.

if you just did nothing, its probably rate fucked.

ive got a similar knee issue, its the cold and the wind which does mine in. get some cold killers windproof knee warmers, they are fantastic! sorts me out fine.

also for the arm, maybe the bike position isnt any good for you. maybe your putting too much pressure on your arms.
you could try one of them cruise control things to ease pressure on your arm, havent used one myself but aparently they are pretty good.
its probably the action of constantly twisting the wrist which is hurting your arm, in that case there probably isnt alot you can do but take drugs, or use public transport.

hope this helps Thumbs Up

I ruined my wrist 10 years ago, boken scaphoid, styloid, distal radius, and various others. 24 fractures/breaks in total. Bone graft Pins and plates to sort it. When I move it now it sounds like a bag of wet gravel. I couldnt wank for 8 months!

I find a neoprene support from boots helps combined with softer grips on the bike. In winter especially on long rides heated gloves have transformed me!

eat and drink nothing but powerbars, powerades, coffee & lucozade for 24 hours before your journey...
then fill up a hydropack with powerade...
put your earphones in and listen to some very fast beat rock music whilst on the trip.

i guarantee that you wont notice the pain.. Laughing

i now have an image of you blasting it down the motorway at 150mph, banging your head on the clocks, shouting the words of the song in your helmet & laughing like a crazy person with bloodshot eyes whilst being chased by about 6 cop cars, not even stopping when they spike your tyres! haha

You need to remember, EVERYONE is different, their bodies heal at different rates to the next. You may be fortunate to have healed quickly and well...but it doesn't automatically mean that it's the same for the next person. Cool

Quite frankly, I'd rather carve out my own scaphoids with a spork and embed them in my eyeballs than ride that monstrosity.
