I don't usually do many, but one stood out today, as some of you may know i have a temporary summer job at Direct Line working in renewals, a lady called up earlier to renew her insurance and was asking about the price, she mentioned that she was told when the policy started that she couldn't carry her 4 years no claims that she had accrued elsewhere over to ourselves, but renewed anyway with 0. Inbetween her old policy ending and this new one she had been using a company car, and was told the no claims had expired.

This set off alarm bells for me because I know it takes two years for no claims to expire, so I had a word with my team leader off the back of this and I managed to get her no claims reinstated, which knocked £250 off her renewal price but also as it was backdated we put £350 back into her account for the previous year too!

Unfortunately she hung up on me whilst she was on hold and I was sorting it so I doubt I will ever get credit for it, but the knowledge that I've got her some money and her no claims back and a cheaper premium too will mean I'm gonna sleep easier tonight!

Smile

I gave someone the benefit of my opinion of his poor driving skills today. Does that count?

Went above and beyond call of duty at work the other day, river in flood, which has been floating all the crap downstream, found a kayak stuck on the wier booms.
Decided to lasso it and lob the fucker on eBay.

Hmmn, I thought as I dragged it out, this is a bit long for a kayak and it doesn't weigh much, turns out it was a £3500 carbon fibre two man c2 (kneeling) jobbie. Also absolutely plastered in Gbr, London 2012, Sydney, Athens and a load more stickers.
I work about a mile from the national watersports centre at holme pierrepoint, rang em up to come fetch it, turns out it belongs to the gb Olympic fellas who have been winning everything in sight.

There now reunited, and I have a gb kayaking polo shirt.

Oh dear, I've not done any recently.
My halo must be slipping.

I often do just random acts of kindness/good deeds thing, always have, makes me laugh when people make a song and dance about it - although nice one, phanny et al, for doing them, I never let one go unacknowledged, either (a bit like farts, then) - as I think its as gracious to say thank you for such things, as it is to do them.

Flagged someone down when they'd got smoke pouring from their front wheel and hadn't noticed.

"Your front brake's seized on!"
'Ooh, I thought something was a bit funny...'

On the plus side, it appears to be really easy to get oblivious people's attention on the BMW - they must've thought I was a copper. Laughing

Last one I did was point out to a Ducati rider that his 748 was pouring oil out onto the downpipes on the motorway.

He seemed most grateful, and I'm amazed he'd made it that far down the motorway at 80/90 as his back tyre was covered in oil too.

I only gave the guy in the shop at Keele services £2 for my £2.98 worth of food the other day, I was still looking through my pocket for the other pound, he proceeded to give me my 2p change... so to save his embarrasment I didn't mention his error and left, always thinking of others Wink

Sort of but no, I am just renewals, just doing my job would have been putting it through with one years no claims and accepting the fact that shes been told the others are invalid, as she had, that would have gone through and the price would have been more.

The good deed was delving deeper into the reason why she doesn't have those no claims, by doing this I realised that she had been misinformed before so she has had those reinstated with the money and a cheaper premium. If I hadn't have pushed for those to be back on none of that would have happened, so ner.
