How does one remove a scratch from a car windshield.

It looks like some one let their wipers go to shit and it has rubbed 3 12 inch long marks in the drivers eyesight, they feel no different on the surface than the glass itself.

Any ideas on what to try?

Smash the screen with a hammer then get auto windscreens to fit a new one through the insurance.

I'd add a step before that, check that you actually have windscreen cover on your insurance.

Will also cost you £60 excess usually. You can get kits that will grind and polish glass, might work might not and if it does it may leave distortions that are even more annoying.

Jeweller's Rouge is the stuff you'd need to remove FINE surface scratches, but make sure you apply it with a sponge wrapped in a cloth or it'll distort the glass as Phoenix said above.

If there's nothing there to feel try some T-cut or rubbing compound.

It looks like you need many tools. This video is of chips not scratchs though.
