Sold the bike, so obviously don't need insurance for it any more, but my policy only has 6 weeks left.

I paid upfront, so should I just let it run to the end to get my NCB?
Or if I cancel it, will I still be able to accrue the NCB?

Just spoke to the insurance about cancelling but forgot to ask about that bit, and can't be doing with holding for 10 mins again.

Thanks in advance.

Its unlikely they will give you the no claims if you cancel your policy with that length of time left on it. I would just leave it running till it expires personally.

IMO such a thing doesn't exist Wink

If you cancel they might charge you and admin fee.

WHy not just phone and ask how much NCD you have.
If it's a figure you like ask them to send it to you in writing (you'll need it for when you get insurance again anyhow).

NCD is valid for about 2 years if your insurance lapses.

HTH Thumbs Up

Let it run. It's only 6 weeks.

I once spoke to some nice insurance person on the phone and after telling me I couldn't insure the VFR against theft only (didn't have a license at the time) they mentioned how it was illegal to insure a vehicle you aren't licensed to drive/ride and I'm also sure they may have said something about it being illegal to insure something you don't own.

It may have been different wording or I may have imagined it but I'd check. Looks like you'll need to phone them again.

^ Yeah I think I probably will do this.

The only thing I'm thinking is they might refuse to honour the NCD seeing as I didn't own the insured bike for a part of the policy period. So it's as good as cancelled anyway.

Because otherwise, you could insure a bike that you didn't own (a proper cheap one) just to accrue NCD could you not?
