Posted: 21:46 - 09 Aug 2009 Post subject: Anybody use an ABBA stand? |
 |
|
Well, after months of persevering with my home made bobbin adaptors and a paddock stand on the S4R, I've finally done the deed and went for an ABBA stand.
Reason why?
Trying to get the bike on the bloody paddock stand tonight so I could lube the chain and it's wobbling all over the place. Stand seems to be flexing which means the bobbins aren't quite matching up and very nearly dropped the whole lot a couple of times
So anyway, I'm fed up with the hassle and wanted something that seemed easy to use but most of all was safe to use and not likely to end in an expensive drop
Good deal on Fleabay direct from the manufacturer. £97 all in including tracked postage
Anybody else use one on where and whats your opinions on them

I've had one for years, excellent piece of kit. I'm sure if you rang them directly they'll do it cheaper as they're only a small company.
Or call, and say you're from Gixerjunkies and they'll give you 10% off.
they're 89 quid on their site, so that's 9 quid off.
so 80 quid and that includes delivery.
saved you 20 quid already ____________________ Turbo R1

Think he may have already paid for it?
Anyway, they're ok.
Incidentally if your stand is flexing at the joints, welding them up makes a decent difference.
Oh and you could just roll the bike back a little bit to oil the chain . For me, I'd find the Abba too much hassle just to oil the chain. |

Good point, but I've got an underslung rear brake caliper which is a sod to bleed so wheel has to come off to invert caliper etc. Hard to do with a single sider.
Guess I've probably been pretty lucky so far. Made up bobbins using a threaded bar from B&Q and some spacers + locknuts. It's held up really well and would act as a slider if the bike went down.
Also figure I can add to the fitting kits *when* I get another bike (and ban the missus from the garage)

Love my abba stand ... £40 from ebay, its scratched etc, but a new one will get scuffed up quick anyway.
Didnt bother with front lift ... just weight rear end down and push a lump of wood under the belly pan with my foot ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.
