God bless the government. I've just seen the advert informing us that bringing food products back from holiday isn't allowed. Right, I'm with you so far.

It then finishes with 'Bringing products in can cause disease... like foot and mouth or swine flu'.

After I'd picked myself off the floor , I wondered if anyone was buying this?

They said the last but one foot and mouth out break was caused by slurry being bought from an airport by a pig farm which may have included meat from food confiscated from incoming travellers.

Its a load of shit, but as far as I can recall. There have always been controls on bringing food products back into the country...

That might be for Ireland or Australia, I can't remember. I just remember reading it somewhere.

These days anything the goverenment say about swine flu/foot & Mouth/terrorism/AlMegrahi/etc etc etc tends to be all doom and gloom.

One of these days, they're going to tell us that by the power of prayer, radical muslims have managed to divert a comet into Earth's orbital path and we only have 50 hours to live; we'll all just say: "Meh..."
