So I've seen a really nice looking ZX-6R near where I live:

'05 ZX-6R
3600 miles
2 previous owners
sparkly clean
stock exhaust
very small plate
shagged super-sticky tyres Exclamation
small dent on front wheel rim
crash mushrooms by the rear wheel, none around the engine

It's going for £3995

Would you buy it or avoid it?

Bit steep I'd say, £200+ for the tyres and another whack to fix the wheel.
Is it a private or trade sale ?

Depends, not for that price!

I had and crashed that very model. The one you are looking at sounds like an ex track or race bike. When I stacked mine it left marks on the frame where the fairing had rubbed up against it, so have a look at the point the fairing meets the frame on the side of the bike.

Personally for that price I would walk away, you should be able to get a minter for around £3,800.

Just to add, just because there's no engine crash mushrooms shouldn't make you go :s ! The rear ones are also used as paddock stand bobbins.

It's a fair trade price I suppose. Some nice 6R's on biketrader etc at the moment around that price with extras and new tyres, no chance you can sell private ?

I'm not up for the hassle of selling privately tbh.

I think I'll give this one a miss, the shagged super-sticky tyres and only 3600 miles on the clock are screaming out "I've been abused!!" Plus the amount I'd have to spend to get an alarm on it and some all-weather tyres is just too much.

It was this one btw:
https://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/bikes/KAWASAKI+ZX/Ne-2-4-7-8-27-64-104-133-146-236,N-239-4294967191-4294967193/advert.action?R=200926336756900&distance=30&postcode=ct14+9pl&channel=BIKES&make=KAWASAKI&model=ZX&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2005&vehicleRegLetter=55

Thanks for taking the time to have a look, it's appreciated Cool

If its trade im sure the dealer would put a pair of tyres on it before selling and possibly fix the rim. If the tyres are truly shagged ie illegal then im not certain that a trader could sell it on with illegal tyres as they have a duty of care etc. I wouldnt neccesarily say its been abused because its done 3600miles and has knackered tyres, thats a decent lifespan for supersoft tyres!(although at that mileage if there not original id assume they been fitted as an upgrade not because the OE tyres worn out) So wouldnt let things like that put you off. Not sure about the price tbh im no expert but as with all dealers you know before you go looking that they will be priced way over the odds.
Thumbs Up
