Was on my beast of a 250 hyosung at the lights today. Looked over to see a ped with L plates, didn't really take much of a look (dirty things!) but when the lights went green I pulled away sharpish and the ped came with me so i started trying... it stayed within 5 metres all the way to about 60mph! (indicated)

Didn't sound like a swarm of angry bees either.

*No real point to this story.

The ped rider was probably gutted to have been beaten by a Hyosung Shocked

There is loads of vids like that. They are quicker than you think, I used to have a 180 2 stroke and that shocked a few people. Got my CBR and Duke now but still want to get another 180 Wink

R6 being ridden like a girl I think. Laughing

Yes some are pretty quick, but I think they'd struggle to stay with a properly launched 600.

Agree with big_steak.
Achieving the quoted 0-60 time for a geared bike isn't always that easy, as many of us amateurs can't time the perfect gear changes.
Some kid on a twist and go can just open it up and let loose his ruthless agression.
If you controlled the clutch perfectly at launch and optimised your gear changes, your 250 would have been at least 10 metres ahead. Laughing Thumbs Up

Me too, my launches on the bike tend to be fairly poor! I was just amazed by the pace on the thing... cos it was a dirty ped I didn't get a good look, but the L's make me think 125 and the lack of earsplitting whine make me think no race can (so I'd presume no other mods).

Oh well, only a year to go til I can get a 600 then I can write another thread about riders with more skills on 250s nearly keeping up with me.

That video, The 'ped probably had really light rollers thus good acceleration. So in the one area that the 'ped should of won it still lost as the R6 pulls away quicker.

I'd happily have another hyo, but fancy a change. I'll likely go for G's favourite - a ducati (695)... might've been spoilt by having fairing though so I'll have to do a few test rides.

Really light rollers doesn't give good accel. There is only the correct rollers that give it light rollers. Ya can't chuck lights in there for good accel or heavy rollers for top end, doesn't work like that Wink

I'm not defending the ped, but some can be quick, obv not as quick as a 600 or whatever, but still quick.

I'm not surprised to be honest. 100 kilo scooby with 15bhp can easily keep up with 160 kilo 22bhp bike.

I've had similar.

Me on my shit TDM (only had it for a couple of weeks and just realising how much of a bad buy it was.) Howked it away from some lights beside a 125 twist and go.

I thought he'd have no chance but no, he kept up pulling weelies. No idea how fast it was, maybe only 40 odd, had to slow down for the next set of lights.

I decided to cut my loses and 'let' him wheely away

Oh and I got owned by a VW Lupo on my 125 too, oops. Embarassed

Put two up, with full luggage, up 20% hill into a head wind. Now Ped Boi see how you do against my Varadero. ( I have to have some advantage some how) Embarassed
